El título mismo, una ingeniosa subversión de la frase leninista “salvo el poder, todo es ilusión”, establece el tono irreverente de la narrativa. El protagonista, a diferencia del ideal revolucionario, encuentra en el amor la única certeza en un mundo de decepciones. Sin embargo, Marroquín evita la romantización, presentando una visión honesta y crítica de la experiencia.
