Esta iniciativa, liderada por Delta Air Lines, comenzará a operar el 4 de diciembre de 2025, marcando un hito en la conexión aérea entre Perú y Estados Unidos.

La ministra de Comercio Exterior y Turismo, Desilú León, ha destacado que esta ruta sin escalas no solo facilitará el acceso de turistas estadounidenses a Perú, sino que también impulsará significativamente la economía nacional. “Esta conexión representa una oportunidad única para atraer a un mayor número de visitantes internacionales, quienes podrán descubrir la riqueza cultural y natural de nuestro país, desde la majestuosidad de Machu Picchu hasta la vibrante ciudad de Arequipa”, señaló la ministra.

Además, la nueva ruta aérea permitirá a Perú consolidarse como un centro de conexiones en la región. Al respecto, la ministra León explicó ante la Comisión de Comercio Exterior y Turismo del Congreso que esta ruta facilitará las conexiones hacia otros destinos sudamericanos clave como São Paulo, Buenos Aires y Santiago de Chile, promoviendo así el programa Stopover en Lima, que busca incentivar a los viajeros a prolongar su estadía en el país.

El perfil del turista estadounidense, caracterizado por un alto gasto promedio y una notable tasa de retorno, convierte a esta nueva conexión en una pieza clave para el crecimiento del sector turístico peruano. Se espera que la ruta no solo incremente las llegadas internacionales, sino que también fomente experiencias de viaje más extensas y enriquecedoras en todo el territorio nacional.

La ministra León enfatizó que la habilitación de rutas como la de Salt Lake City – Lima es fundamental para transformar el Aeropuerto Jorge Chávez en un verdadero hub regional de turismo y conectividad, posicionando a Perú como un destino competitivo en el mercado latinoamericano.

Delta Air Lines operará esta ruta con aeronaves Boeing 767-300ER, ofreciendo hasta siete frecuencias semanales y cuatro tipos de cabina, adaptándose tanto a las necesidades del turismo vacacional como a los viajes corporativos y de reuniones (MICE).

El Mincetur reafirma su compromiso de seguir impulsando la conectividad internacional de Perú, con la mira puesta en la recuperación del turismo receptivo y la atracción de inversiones. En este sentido, se ha programado la apertura de nuevas rutas internacionales para el último trimestre de 2025 y el primer trimestre de 2026, incluyendo destinos como Orlando, Curazao, Florianópolis, Tucumán, Montreal, Toronto e Iguazú.
