La ministra de Comercio Exterior y Turismo (Mincetur), Teresa Mera Gómez, resaltó este avance tras sostener una reunión estratégica con el secretario general de la OCDE, Mathias Cormann, en el marco de la Reunión Anual de Ministros de APEC, celebrada en Gyeongju, Corea del Sur.

La ministra Mera Gómez enfatizó que el Gobierno de Transición está estableciendo los cimientos esenciales para asegurar la continuidad del proceso de adhesión a la OCDE, subrayando la importancia de esta iniciativa como una política de Estado que trasciende administraciones gubernamentales.

“El proceso de adhesión a la OCDE representa una política de Estado que refleja el firme compromiso del país con la adopción de los más altos estándares de gobernanza. La visión del Perú con miras al futuro se encuentra en perfecta sintonía con los objetivos de la OCDE, buscando de manera constante mejorar la calidad de vida de todos nuestros ciudadanos”, afirmó la ministra.

Además, la ministra Mera Gómez expresó la total disposición del Perú para abordar las consultas técnicas relacionadas con la Evaluación de Apertura de Mercados, las cuales serán remitidas por el Comité de Comercio de la OCDE. Este compromiso tiene como objetivo facilitar la pronta conclusión del trabajo de este grupo en los próximos meses, permitiendo así avanzar de manera eficiente hacia las siguientes fases del proceso de adhesión.

FORTALECIMIENTO DE VÍNCULOS BILATERALES Y COOPERACIÓN EN COREA DEL SUR

A su llegada al Aeropuerto de Gimhae, en Busán, la ministra Mera fue recibida por una distinguida delegación encabezada por Jeon Ki Lee, presidente y CEO de la Korea Airports Corporation (KAC), así como por Kim Hak-hong, vicegobernador de la provincia de Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Durante este encuentro, KAC manifestó su profundo interés en participar activamente en la modernización de los aeropuertos de Juanjuí y Rioja, ubicados en la región de San Martín, así como del aeropuerto de Andahuaylas, en Apurímac. Esta colaboración podría significar una mejora sustancial en la infraestructura aeroportuaria del país, impulsando el desarrollo regional y facilitando la conectividad aérea.

Por su parte, el vicegobernador Kim Hak-hong resaltó los sólidos vínculos socioculturales que unen a Corea del Sur y el Perú, recordando que las ciudades de Andong y Cusco mantienen un hermanamiento que fortalece los lazos entre ambas naciones. Asimismo, destacó la participación del alcalde de Andong en la celebración del Inti Raymi 2024, una muestra del intercambio cultural y la amistad entre ambos pueblos.

Es importante destacar que la ministra Teresa Mera lidera la delegación peruana que participa activamente en la Reunión Anual Ministerial y en la Reunión de Líderes del Foro de Cooperación Económica Asia-Pacífico (APEC), eventos que se llevan a cabo en Gyeongju, Corea del Sur, del 29 de octubre al 1 de noviembre. Este encuentro de alto nivel reúne a los ministros de Relaciones Exteriores y de Comercio, así como a los líderes de las 21 economías que conforman el foro, consolidándose como un espacio fundamental para fortalecer la integración económica y la cooperación regional en el Asia-Pacífico.

CONCLUSIONES

1.- Compromiso del Estado: La adhesión a la OCDE es una política de Estado que busca mejorar la calidad de vida de los ciudadanos peruanos a través de la adopción de altos estándares de gobernanza.
​2.- Cooperación Internacional: El interés de Corea del Sur en la modernización de aeropuertos peruanos puede significar un avance importante en la infraestructura del país y en la conectividad regional.

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), Teresa Mera Gómez, highlighted this progress after holding a strategic meeting with the OECD Secretary-General, Mathias Cormann, on the sidelines of the APEC Ministerial Meeting, held in Gyeongju, South Korea.

Minister Mera Gómez emphasized that the Transitional Government is laying the essential foundations to ensure the continuity of the OECD accession process, underscoring the importance of this initiative as a state policy that transcends government administrations.

“The process of joining the OECD represents a state policy that reflects the country’s firm commitment to adopting the highest standards of governance. Peru’s vision for the future is perfectly aligned with the OECD’s objectives, constantly seeking to improve the quality of life for all our citizens,” the minister stated.

Furthermore, Minister Mera Gómez expressed Peru’s full willingness to address the technical consultations related to the Market Opening Assessment, which will be submitted by the OECD Trade Committee. This commitment aims to facilitate the prompt completion of this group’s work in the coming months, thus allowing for efficient progress toward the next phases of the accession process.

STRENGTHENING BILATERAL TIES AND COOPERATION IN SOUTH KOREA

Upon her arrival at Gimhae Airport in Busan, Minister Mera was greeted by a distinguished delegation headed by Jeon Ki Lee, President and CEO of the Korea Airports Corporation (KAC), and Kim Hak-hong, Vice Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.

During this meeting, KAC expressed its strong interest in actively participating in the modernization of the airports in Juanjuí and Rioja, located in the San Martín region, as well as the airport in Andahuaylas, in Apurímac. This collaboration could significantly improve the country’s airport infrastructure, boosting regional development and facilitating air connectivity.

For his part, Vice Governor Kim Hak-hong highlighted the strong sociocultural ties between South Korea and Peru, noting that the cities of Andong and Cusco maintain a sister city relationship that strengthens the bonds between the two nations. He also emphasized the participation of the Mayor of Andong in the 2024 Inti Raymi celebration, a demonstration of the cultural exchange and friendship between the two peoples.

It is important to highlight that Minister Teresa Mera is leading the Peruvian delegation actively participating in the Annual Ministerial Meeting and the Leaders’ Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, events taking place in Gyeongju, South Korea, from October 29 to November 1. This high-level meeting brings together the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Trade, as well as the leaders of the 21 economies that make up the forum, solidifying its position as a fundamental space for strengthening economic integration and regional cooperation in the Asia-Pacific.
