De esta manera, se promoverá que los prestadores de servicios de saneamiento, así como todos los involucrados en la cadena de producción del agua potable y saneamiento, cumplan con lo establecido en la Hoja de Ruta hacía una Economía Circular en agua y saneamiento al 2030.

La propuesta de la Hoja de Ruta hacía una Economía Circular en agua y saneamiento comprende cinco objetivos estratégicos, que incluyen aspectos relacionados al fortalecimiento de la gobernanza, la conservación de las fuentes de agua, promover la cultura, el consumo y las buenas prácticas circulares, la regeneración del agua y fomentar el mercado, los negocios y la innovación circular.

Para el Ministerio de Vivienda, Construcción y Saneamiento (MVCS), el propósito de una transición hacia el modelo circular es llevar agua potable al hogar de cada peruana y peruano mediante la conservación y rehabilitación de las fuentes de agua dulce, la recuperación de aguas residuales, la recarga de nuestros acuíferos, y la reducción de contaminación de ríos y lagunas que hoy reciben descargas domiciliarias.

Esto permitirá que las aguas residuales tratadas no sean desperdiciadas, y puedan ser reaprovechadas en otras actividades como el riego, la minería, entre otros. Asimismo, se fomentará al cuidado de este recurso, en un entono de cambio climático y estrés hídrico.

Durante el “I Foro de Economía Circular en Agua y Saneamiento”, participaron funcionarios y expertos que presentaron información técnica y experiencias prácticas sobre la implementación del enfoque de economía circular y protección de los recursos hídricos en la prestación de los servicios de agua y saneamiento.
