En esta obra, inaugurada por la presidenta Dina Boluarte Zegarra, se han invertido más de 350 millones de dólares. El nuevo muelle es el más largo del país —se extiende hasta 1050 metros— y permitirá atracar y operar tres buques al mismo tiempo.
“El Muelle Bicentenario, que hoy inauguramos en el puerto del Callao, es una prueba palpable de la apuesta y confianza inquebrantable que los inversionistas tienen en nuestro país. El Perú es un destino atractivo y un socio confiable para las inversiones”, manifestó la jefa de Estado.
Con esta construcción, el volumen de carga del puerto del Callao pasará de 1,5 millones de contenedores de 20 pies por año hasta 2,7 millones de contenedores, con lo cual se transformará en el terminal portuario de mayor capacidad en la costa oeste de Sudamérica.
Otro aspecto importante es que el nuevo patio de contenedores tendrá una extensión de 40 hectáreas y contará con nuevas tomas para ampliar la capacidad para contenedores refrigerados, lo que ofrece un gran beneficio para los agroexportadores peruanos y para todos los que movilizan carga perecible hacia diversas partes del mundo.
“El Muelle Bicentenario se adhiere a nuestro objetivo de convertir al Perú en el punto de conexión portuario y logístico más grande de la región. Se convertirá, también, en un importante polo de desarrollo de la costa central del país, que comprende el Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez, el Terminal Portuario del Callao, el Terminal Portuario de Chancay y el futuro Parque Industrial de Ancón”, afirmó la mandataria.
La presidenta destacó que, con decisión política y trabajo, el Gobierno apunta a que nuestra economía siga creciendo con fuerza. “Prueba de ellos es que en abril crecimos 5,28 % respecto al mismo mes del 2023, la mayor tasa mensual de crecimiento desde diciembre del 2021. Esta es la gestión por resultados que aplicamos”, enfatizó.
