Además de presentar sus saludos, Weng Zuliang informó a la jefa de Estado sobre las futuras inversiones que ha planeado efectuar la empresa, como una muestra del interés que tiene en seguir expandiéndose y desarrollándose en el país, entre las que destaca el proyecto El Galeno, ubicado en el departamento de Cajamarca.
La presidenta Dina Boluarte agradeció el interés mostrado por China Minmetals Corporation y reiteró que Perú ofrece seguridad jurídica y un clima social adecuado, que son una garantía para el desarrollo de las inversiones dentro de nuestro país. Además, destacó lo importante que es que las empresas realicen operaciones eficientes y transparentes, con responsabilidad social, en beneficios de millones de peruanos. El encuentro tuvo lugar el sábado 29 de junio.
En los últimos 5 años, la Minera Las Bambas, que desarrolla sus actividades en Apurímac, ha representado cerca del 75% del PBI de la mencionada región. Además, representa el 1% del PBI nacional y cerca del 9% del PBI minero. La empresa ha generado, en promedio, 75 mil puestos de trabajo en todo el Perú cada año.
