El arzobispo de Arequipa, Monseñor Javier del Río Alba, fue el encargado de transmitir el mensaje del Sumo Pontífice durante la apertura de la Exhibición Tecnológica Minera (EXTEMIN), evento que se desarrolla en el contexto de la convención minera líder tanto en Latinoamérica como a nivel global.

“Su Santidad tiene la esperanza de que estos días dedicados a la reflexión sobre los desafíos de la industria minera peruana y las necesidades de quienes laboran en este ámbito, fomenten en los participantes un compromiso renovado con la justicia, la solidaridad, el respeto por el entorno natural y el bienestar colectivo”, manifestó Del Río Alba en representación de León XIV.

PLEGARIA POR LOS AFECTADOS POR LA ILEGALIDAD

Durante su intervención en la inauguración de EXTEMIN, el arzobispo de Arequipa elevó una plegaria por aquellos que han sido víctimas de la minería ilegal y el sicariato en el país, así como por sus familias, con el fin de que encuentren “consuelo en su dolor”.

Adicionalmente, expresó su confianza en que “EXTEMIN se convierta en un foro de diálogo, análisis y encuentro donde prevalezca el anhelo compartido por el progreso de la sociedad”.

Monseñor Del Río Alba lideró una comitiva de representantes de diversas comunidades religiosas que participan en PERUMIN 37, incluyendo la Iglesia Anglicana, la Iglesia Ortodoxa Siria de Antioquía, la Iglesia Evangélica y la fe Bahaí, entre otras. Este grupo de reflexión y oración colabora en el análisis de temas relacionados con la minería y la fe, trabajando en conjunto con directores y ejecutivos de empresas mineras a nivel nacional.

PRAYER FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY ILLEGALITY

During his speech at the inauguration of EXTEMIN, the Archbishop of Arequipa offered a prayer for those who have been victims of illegal mining and contract killings in the country, as well as for their families, so that they may find “comfort in their pain.”

He also expressed his confidence that “EXTEMIN will become a forum for dialogue, analysis, and encounter where the shared desire for the progress of society prevails.”

Monsignor Del Río Alba led a delegation of representatives from various religious communities participating in PERUMIN 37, including the Anglican Church, the Syrian Orthodox Church of Antioch, the Evangelical Church, and the Baha’i Faith, among others. This reflection and prayer group collaborates on the analysis of issues related to mining and faith, working together with directors and executives of mining companies nationwide.
