En su discurso, la mandataria unió su rol institucional a su vinculación personal con el deporte: “Como presidenta, pero también como quien ha practicado el deporte por afición, me siento profundamente identificada con esta fiesta anticipada en el corazón de nuestra capital. Para nosotros los anfitriones, es al mismo tiempo una gran responsabilidad y un inmenso orgullo ser sede de este acontecimiento continental”.

Destacó que el evento trasciende lo competitivo: es una herramienta poderosa para sembrar en niñas, niños y jóvenes los valores que forjan personas y naciones: esfuerzo, disciplina, resiliencia y valentía. “Sueño con un país de campeones: no solo quienes suben a un podio, sino todos aquellos que se atreven a perseguir sus metas y alcanzarlas. Por eso tiene un significado especial la presencia de nuestros deportistas, que saben de primera mano cuánto trabajo hay detrás de cada logro”.

Un momento de gran relevancia fue el reconocimiento a la invitada internacional Simone Biles, la gimnasta más condecorada de la historia y referente mundial no solo por sus marcas deportivas, sino por su liderazgo y defensa de la salud mental en el deporte. “Su presencia nos honra: ella simboliza la excelencia, pero también la capacidad de transformar el deporte desde la innovación y la fortaleza humana”, señaló la jefa de Estado.

La cita deportiva será también una vitrina global: permitirá exhibir la capacidad organizativa del Perú, profundizar la hermandad entre las naciones del continente y proyectar al país como una sociedad que avanza con paso firme. “Lima 2027 no es solo competencia: es la oportunidad de demostrar que el Perú está listo para grandes desafíos, de unir a las Américas y de mostrar al mundo una nación con confianza y vocación de liderazgo”.

A la ceremonia asistieron las principales autoridades del sector: el ministro de Educación José Antonio Chang, el ministro de Salud Luis Dyer, el presidente de Panam Sport Neven Ilic, el presidente del Comité Paralímpico Nacional César Ávila, además de figuras destacadas del deporte nacional como Karen Palomeque y Alexandra Grande. Los Juegos Panamericanos se realizarán del 23 de julio al 8 de agosto de 2027, congregando a delegaciones de los 41 países del continente americano.
