Particularmente notable es el aumento significativo en la participación de las mujeres en este sector estratégico, un avance que subraya el compromiso del país con la equidad de género en la industria.
“La presencia femenina en el sector minero se ha elevado a 20,687 puestos, representando un 7.9% del empleo total generado. Además, es importante resaltar que estas profesionales se encuentran entre las mejor remuneradas del sector. Las mujeres peruanas tienen la capacidad y están demostrando su valía en este campo”, afirmó la mandataria durante la clausura de la 37.ª edición de la Convención Minera Perumin, celebrada en Arequipa.
Según datos oficiales de julio de 2025, la minería ha impulsado la creación de 262,786 empleos directos, marcando el nivel más alto registrado en el año y reflejando un aumento del 9.8% en comparación con el mismo mes de 2024. En cuanto a las transferencias a las regiones, estas alcanzaron los S/8,941 millones hasta el séptimo mes del año, provenientes del canon minero, regalías y otros conceptos. Estos fondos fortalecerán la capacidad de inversión en áreas cruciales como educación, salud e infraestructura, contribuyendo al desarrollo sostenible de las comunidades locales.
La Jefa de Estado reafirmó el compromiso de su gobierno con una minería moderna, responsable y respetuosa con el medio ambiente y las comunidades. En este sentido, reiteró la firme determinación de combatir la minería ilegal, adoptando un enfoque inteligente y estratégico para enfrentar este desafío.
Asimismo, la presidenta Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra resaltó la firma de un memorando de entendimiento entre Perú y Chile, destinado a impulsar el desarrollo sostenible de la minería en ambos países. “Juntos representamos el 40% de la oferta mundial de cobre en la actualidad. Nuestra meta es alcanzar el 51% en los próximos 15 años, y confiamos en que lo lograremos”, precisó.
Perumin 2025, que tuvo lugar del 22 al 26 de septiembre en Arequipa, congregó a autoridades, empresas, académicos, profesionales y estudiantes del sector minero. El evento sirvió como plataforma para debatir sobre innovación, sostenibilidad y la agenda minera, así como para fomentar el intercambio de conocimientos, la generación de alianzas y la promoción de la riqueza mineral del país.
La convención minera contó con la participación de países de los cinco continentes, incluyendo China, Estados Unidos, Canadá, Australia, Reino Unido, Finlandia, Turquía, Sudáfrica, Chile, Argentina, Brasil y Suiza, lo que evidencia la relevancia de la minería peruana en la agenda internacional.
LUCHA CONTRA EL CRIMEN
En otro orden de ideas, la presidenta felicitó a la Policía Nacional del Perú (PNP) por la captura de Erick Moreno, alias “El Monstruo”, en un operativo conjunto con Paraguay. “Esta captura representa un golpe contundente al crimen organizado transnacional y reafirma nuestro compromiso de brindar mayor seguridad ciudadana a nuestros compatriotas”, señaló.
PARTICIPACIÓN EN LA 80. ° SESIÓN DE LA ONU
La mandataria también informó sobre la reciente participación del Perú en la 80. ° Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas, donde el país ratificó su compromiso con la paz, el desarrollo sostenible y la lucha contra el crimen organizado transnacional. “El Perú se presenta como un destino clave para las inversiones, incluyendo el sector minero. Ofrecemos un entorno de estabilidad y confianza, una economía robustecida y una de las monedas más sólidas de la región”, destacó.
En el cierre del evento, la presidenta de la República estuvo acompañada por el premier, Eduardo Arana; el ministro de Energía y Minas, Jorge Montero; el gobernador regional de Arequipa, Rohel Sánchez; el presidente del Instituto de Ingenieros de Minas del Perú (IIMP), Darío Zegarra; y la presidenta de Perumin 37, Jimena Sologuren.
