Congreso autorizó viaje del presidente Pedro Castillo a Estados Unidos por invitación del presidente Joe Biden para la Cumbre de las Américas.

El acuerdo se tomó con 103 votos a favor, 2 en contra y una abstención, en la sesión que realizó el jueves 2, dirigida por la presidenta del Congreso, Maricarmen Alva Prieto.

Además de participar en dicho evento internacional que será entre el 6 y el 10 de junio, con la autorización también se contempla que el mandatario de la Nación concurra a reuniones conexas a realizarse los días 8, 9 y 11 de junio, según lo precisa el Oficio 157-2022-PR, presentado el 27 de mayo de 2022.

Cabe precisar que -según el oficio- también se ha previsto que Castillo Terrones participe en la IV Cumbre Empresarial de las Américas, a realizarse los días 8 y 9 de junio; y que sostenga un encuentro con la comunidad peruana residente en Los Ángeles el 11 de junio.

DEBATE
Antes de la votación se generó un debate donde participaron congresistas de diversas bancadas para pronunciarse sobre el pedido del mandatario de la Nación.

En su condición de presidente de la Comisión de Relaciones Exteriores, el congresista Ernesto Bustamante (FP), opinó que dada la importancia de los temas que se van a tratar en el encuentro internacional “es muy importante que esté la máxima autoridad del país y que nos represente hayamos votado por él o no”. Por lo tanto, recomendó que se vote a favor.

Antes, participó la congresista Norma Yarrow (Avanza País), quien dijo que en dicho foro internacional nuestro país será visto a nivel nacional por quien asista representándonos. “Le corresponde al presidente representarnos. Pero ante todo lo acontecido, mi voto es no, señor presidente”, dijo.

“Yo si estoy de acuerdo que vaya el presidente a esta cumbre porque es de gran importancia”, dijo por su parte el congresista Enrique Wong Pujada, quien además subraya que el presidente de la República “tiene que demostrar que es un presidente demócrata y eso nos da seguridad de su participación”, añadió.

También participaron en el debate los congresistas Jorge Montoya Manrique (RP), Susel Paredes Piqué (NoA), Alex Paredes Gonzales (BMCN), Segundo Quiroz Barboza (BMCN), Pasión Dávila Atanacio (BMCN), Hernando Guerra-García (FP), Eduardo Salhuana Cavides (APP), Edwin Martínez Talavera (AP), Guillermo Bermejo (PD), Wilmar Elera García (SP), entre otros.

Before the vote, a debate was generated in which congressmen from various groups participated to pronounce on the request of the President of the Nation.

In his capacity as president of the Committee on Foreign Relations, congressman Ernesto Bustamante (FP), expressed the opinion that given the importance of the issues that are going to be discussed at the international meeting, “it is very important that the country’s highest authority is present and that represents us whether we voted for him or not.” Therefore, he recommended a vote in favor.

Before that, Congresswoman Norma Yarrow (Avanza País) participated, who said that in said international forum our country will be seen at the national level by whoever attends representing us. “It is up to the president to represent us. But given everything that has happened, my vote is no, Mr. President,” he said.
