El presidente del gremio empresarial, Julio Pérez Alván, opinó que en un contexto en el que los países del mundo buscan reducir sus costos logísticos para hacer más competitivo su comercio exterior, la decisión del parlamento es una noticia muy bien recibida por el sector.

“Era un pedido que hicimos junto a todos los gremios empresariales, el Ministerio de Comercio Exterior y Turismo y otras autoridades del sector público, todos estábamos comprometidos con esta iniciativa. Ahora los puertos regionales podrán captar mayores volúmenes de carga y se evitará que los productos peruanos se movilicen hacia los terminales portuarios de naciones vecinas”, comentó.

A manera de ejemplo, detalló que por los puertos de Guayaquil y Posorja (Ecuador) salen langostinos, una diversidad de pescados y banano orgánico; y por el puerto de Arica (Chile), paltas, aceitunas y orégano.

Añadió que también se fortalecerá la posición del Perú como hub regional y se facilitará la conexión de los corredores interoceánicos (IIRSA Sur y Norte), impulsando el crecimiento de Arequipa, Cusco y Piura.

“Nuestro país tendrá embarcaciones nacionales y extranjeras que ofrecerán servicios de transporte de carga marítima interna, impactando de forma positiva en las empresas que atienden al mercado interno, importadores y exportadores, especialmente a las micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas. Será una alternativa al transporte terrestre, el cual se ve afectado por conflictos sociales y desastres naturales”, puntualizó.

Enfatizó que el cabotaje reducirá los costos de transporte, fortalecerá la economía, asegurará la soberanía de sus rutas marítimas y abrirá nuevas vías para el comercio y la inversión en el sector marítimo. “Esperamos que el Ejecutivo lo promulgue a la brevedad”, expresó.

PUERTO DE CHANCAY
En esa misma línea, Pérez Alván destacó la aprobación del proyecto que modifica la Ley del Sistema Portuario Nacional, con la cual se otorga a la Autoridad Portuaria Nacional (APN) la potestad de conceder la exclusividad de operación a empresas privadas mediante habilitaciones o licencias portuarias.

“La decisión se tomó en un momento crucial ya que la presidenta Dina Boluarte viajaría a China a fines de junio y se reuniría con el presidente Xi Jinpin”, concluyó.

He added that Peru’s position as a regional hub will also be strengthened and the connection of the interoceanic corridors (IIRSA South and North) will be facilitated, promoting the growth of Arequipa, Cusco and Piura.

“Our country will have national and foreign vessels that will offer internal maritime cargo transportation services, positively impacting companies that serve the domestic market, importers and exporters, especially micro, small and medium-sized companies. It will be an alternative to land transportation, which is affected by social conflicts and natural disasters,” he said.

He emphasized that cabotage will reduce transportation costs, strengthen the economy, ensure the sovereignty of its maritime routes and open new avenues for trade and investment in the maritime sector. “We hope that the Executive will promulgate it as soon as possible,” he said.

PORT OF CHANCAY
Along the same lines, Pérez Alván highlighted the approval of the project that modifies the Law of the National Port System, with which the National Port Authority (APN) is granted the power to grant exclusivity of operation to private companies through port authorizations or licenses. .

“The decision was made at a crucial time since President Dina Boluarte would travel to China at the end of June and meet with President Xi Jinpin,” he concluded.
