En declaraciones a la Agencia Andina señaló que después de dos años de la pandemia del Covid con todo paralizado, el Perú que venía de una racha de organizar grandes eventos, ve en esta oportunidad una nueva posibilidad de posicionarse como un “hub” de reuniones a nivel internacional y convertirse en una vitrina para el mundo.

“El hecho que, este año, seamos por tercera vez presidencia de APEC significa que las otras 20 economías tienen confianza en el liderazgo peruano para impulsar la agenda temática, la agenda sustantiva, digamos desde las reuniones”, sentenció.

Asimismo, fue enfático al sostener que el grado de confianza en la capacidad organizativa del Perú “para hacer este tipo de eventos de gran calado”, destacando que en la Presidencia APEC Perú 2024 las reuniones de altos funcionarios y ministros de las 21 economías miembro, se estén desarrollando en cuatro ciudades del interior del país, al margen de Lima.

“La idea es, por supuesto, hacer partícipe a la mayor cantidad de gente posible de este tipo de eventos. Este año hemos tenido cuatro ciudades como sedes. Ya tuvimos a Arequipa, después de ahí hemos venido acá al Cusco para tener dos reuniones. Hace una semana hubo una reunión de altos funcionarios de Finanzas y ahorita estamos en la semana ministerial de turismo”, afirmó.

Precisó que se desarrollará la Tercera Reunión de Altos Funcionarios SOM3 en Lima y al mismo tiempo en la ciudad de Trujillo (La Libertad), la reunión de ministros de Agricultura, donde se verá el tema de seguridad alimentaria.

“Y de ahí, nos vamos a Pucallpa (Ucayali) que será en septiembre y donde tenemos la reunión de pymes. A partir de ahí, ya vamos entrando en la recta final de lo que es la Presidencia APEC Perú 2024”, finalizó.

“The idea is, of course, to involve as many people as possible in this type of events. This year we have had four cities as venues. We already had Arequipa, after there we came here to Cusco to have two meetings. A week ago there was a meeting of senior finance officials and right now we are in the tourism ministerial week,” he stated.

He specified that the Third Meeting of Senior SOM3 Officials will take place in Lima and at the same time in the city of Trujillo (La Libertad), the meeting of Ministers of Agriculture, where the issue of food security will be discussed.

“And from there, we go to Pucallpa (Ucayali) which will be in September and where we will have the meeting of SMEs. From there, we are entering the final stretch of what is the APEC Peru 2024 Presidency,” he concluded.
