El ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, quien presidió la delegación peruana, destacó los avances que reflejan “el compromiso inquebrantable de nuestros gobiernos y, en especial de nuestros pueblos, un compromiso de tener una mayor integración y ofrecer mayores y mejores resultados”.

Por su parte, la canciller ecuatoriana destacó el “alto nivel de diálogo y coordinación que caracteriza el relacionamiento entre nuestros países” que ha permitido que siempre exista la voluntad y decisión para abordar de manera resolutiva y constructiva los temas, especialmente aquellos que atañen a las zonas fronterizas que requieren especial atención.

El documento suscrito contiene cuarenta y nueve compromisos vinculados a asuntos sociales, culturales, de cooperación, productivos, comerciales, inversión, turismo, ambientales, energéticos y mineros; así como fronterizos, de infraestructura, conectividad, derechos de las personas, seguridad integral y defensa.

Entre los compromisos asumidos están promover el fortalecimiento de los Comités de Frontera El Oro – Tumbes; Zamora Chinchipe – Cajamarca y Loja – Piura; continuar con los trabajos de la Comisión Binacional Permanente para la Administración del Canal de Zarumilla y la Utilización de sus Aguas; la implementación infraestructura tecnológica para la interconexión binacional de servicios de telesalud; la instalación del Comité de Gestión Integrada de Recursos Hídricos de la cuenca Puyango-Tumbes; la ejecución de operaciones coordinadas contra la delincuencia organizada transnacional en la zona fronteriza, entre otros.

En la cita las delegaciones, encabezadas por los cancilleres, hicieron un repaso a los 51 compromisos establecidos en el Plan de Acción de Loja 2022 cuyos resultados alcanzados reflejan el compromiso de ambos países para trabajar juntos en la promoción del desarrollo sostenible y el bienestar de sus poblaciones.

Finalmente, el canciller González-Olaechea resaltó el interés peruano de “profundizar la franca amistad” con el Ecuador, así como la apuesta por “la paz en la democracia y en libertad”.

La XVI Reunión de la Comisión de Vecindad Peruano – Ecuatoriana es un preámbulo del Encuentro Presidencial y XV Gabinete Binacional de Ministros a desarrollarse el 4 de julio próximo, en Lima.

Es importante señalar que la Comisión de Vecindad Peruano-Ecuatoriana se estableció mediante el Acuerdo Amplio de Integración Fronteriza, Desarrollo y Vecindad, que es parte de los Acuerdos de Paz de 1998. Su principal objetivo es fomentar, apoyar y coordinar programas, proyectos y actividades de interés mutuo, promoviendo así un acercamiento integral entre el Perú y Ecuador.
