“Ustedes son el alma y el corazón de nuestra Policía Nacional en cada lugar, en cada distrito de nuestro país donde se encuentran presentes. Son el gran respaldo que nuestra Policía Nacional tiene”, manifestó la jefa de Estado durante una ceremonia realizada en el Palacio de Gobierno por el 27.º aniversario de estas organizaciones.

Las juntas vecinales nacieron como una respuesta a la necesidad de combatir la delincuencia y promover la participación ciudadana en la seguridad pública. Su institucionalización se dio a fines del siglo XX, y con el tiempo fueron incorporadas al sistema de seguridad ciudadana, respaldadas por normas específicas. Cumplen un rol importantísimo en varios distritos del país, rol que ha sido y seguirá siendo reforzado por el Gobierno.

Actualmente, existen 9291 juntas vecinales en todo el país, integradas por 110 457 personas. De ellas, 52 915 son hombres y 57 542 son mujeres.

La mandataria comprometió a las juntas vecinales a trabajar de la mano con la Policía Nacional para luchar frontalmente contra la delincuencia y la inseguridad nacional.

“En 2025 pongamos como prioridad número uno erradicar la violencia de nuestro territorio. Así lo hicimos con el tema económico, y lo hemos cumplido con creces. Estamos cerrando el año con un crecimiento de 3,2 %”, manifestó. Dijo también que, hace dos días, el Banco Mundial reconoció que Perú ha vencido el problema de la inflación, que es la más baja de la región y llega al 2 %.

“Ese es el compromiso con el que trabaja nuestro Gobierno. Desde el primer día que asumí la Presidencia de la República me comprometí con los peruanos y las peruanas a trabajar duro, sin descanso, hasta el 28 de julio del 2026. Ese día estaremos diciéndoles al Perú ‘misión cumplida’ y estaremos dejando al próximo gobierno un Perú mejor al que nosotros encontramos”, expresó.

En otro momento, la presidenta anunció que el próximo año se instalará una mesa de trabajo para resolver determinados temas propuestos por las juntas vecinales, como la asistencia legal y el SIS.

“That is the commitment with which our Government works. From the first day I assumed the Presidency of the Republic, I committed to the Peruvians to work hard, without rest, until July 28, 2026. That day we will be telling Peru ‘mission accomplished’ and we will be leaving the next government a better Peru than the one we found,” he expressed.

At another time, the president announced that next year a working group will be set up to resolve certain issues proposed by the neighborhood councils, such as legal assistance and the SIS.
