Agencia Peruana de Noticias PRENSAPERU.PE https://prensaperu.pe/ Twitter: @prensaperupe En el marco del 56° Periodo Extraordinario de Sesiones de la Asamblea General de los Estados Americanos (OEA) que se llevará a cabo hoy, el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Elmer Schialer Salcedo, se reunió en Washington D.C., EE.UU. con sus homólogos de Surinam, Albert Ramdin, y del Uruguay, Mario Lubetkin.

En el encuentro entre el canciller Schialer y su homólogo de Surinam, intercambiaron puntos de vista sobre la situación en el hemisferio, y los desafíos que enfrenta la OEA. También se transmitió a Ramdin las acciones peruanas para profundizar las relaciones con la Comunidad del Caribe (CARICOM) y, por otro lado, se reafirmó la posición de nuestro país sobre la situación en Venezuela.

En tanto que, en la reunión con el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores del Uruguay, Mario Lubetkin, el canciller Schialer compartió la voluntad de afianzar lazos y mantener una fluida coordinación política a fin de articular esfuerzos, a nivel regional y global.

Asimismo, expresó el interés en avanzar hacia la firma de un Acuerdo de Profundización Económica – Comercial, así como en la ampliación de cooperación en lucha contra la delincuencia organizada transnacional, innovación tecnológica y cooperación técnica.

ELECCIÓN DEL SECRETARIO GENERAL DE LA OEA
Hoy lunes 10 de marzo, el canciller Elmer Schialer Salcedo participará en la Quincuagésimo Sexto Periodo Extraordinario de Sesiones de la Asamblea General de la OEA, ocasión en la que se elegirá al nuevo secretario general de este organismo para el periodo 2025 – 2030.

La presencia del ministro reafirmará el compromiso del Perú con el Sistema Interamericano, con la democracia y la cooperación regional, pilares fundamentales de la OEA, asegurando el liderazgo de nuestro país mediante la participación activa en las decisiones de este citado organismo hemisférico.

During the meeting between Foreign Minister Schialer and his counterpart from Suriname, they exchanged points of view on the situation in the hemisphere, and the challenges facing the OAS. Ramdin was also informed of Peru’s actions to deepen relations with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and, on the other hand, our country’s position on the situation in Venezuela was reaffirmed.

Meanwhile, in the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, Mario Lubetkin, Foreign Minister Schialer shared the desire to strengthen ties and maintain fluid political coordination in order to coordinate efforts at a regional and global level.

He also expressed interest in moving towards the signing of an Economic-Trade Deepening Agreement, as well as in expanding cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime, technological innovation and technical cooperation.

ELECTION OF THE SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE OAS
Today, Monday, March 10, Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer Salcedo will participate in the Fifty-Sixth Extraordinary Period of Sessions of the General Assembly of the OAS, an occasion in which the new Secretary General of this organization will be elected for the period 2025 – 2030.

The presence of the minister will reaffirm Peru’s commitment to the Inter-American System, to democracy and regional cooperation, fundamental pillars of the OAS, ensuring the leadership of our country through active participation in the decisions of this hemispheric organization.
