La implementación de esta tecnología permitirá un monitoreo constante y en tiempo real para reforzar la seguridad interna y evitar actividades ilícitas dentro del penal. Con una inversión superior a los S/ 13 millones, el nuevo sistema de videovigilancia cuenta con 287 cámaras de última generación, equipadas con reconocimiento facial y detección de movimientos sospechosos. Además, se ha implementado un Video Wall con 10 monitores de 55 pulgadas y estaciones de trabajo que permitirán a las autoridades penitenciarias visualizar cada rincón del penal.

El titular del MINJUSDH sostuvo que este avance marca un antes y un después en la administración penitenciaria, permitiendo un control más eficiente de la población carcelaria. “No permitiremos que las cárceles sean centros de operaciones de redes delictivas. Con este moderno sistema, reforzamos el control penitenciario y la seguridad ciudadana”, afirmó.

Señaló que este modelo se replicará en otros penales del país, en el marco de un plan integral para fortalecer la infraestructura penitenciaria. “La inteligencia artificial nos permitirá mejorar la seguridad, prevenir delitos y garantizar que el cumplimiento de las penas se realice bajo un estricto control”, indicó.

Agregó que este acto representa un ejemplo claro de que el Ejecutivo, liderado por la presidenta Dina Boluarte, “cumple lo que promete”, en materia de lucha contra la criminalidad y en la mejora constante del sistema penitenciario.

El ministro Arana también reafirmó el compromiso del MINJUSDH e INPE con la mejora de las condiciones laborales, incluyendo remuneraciones y capacitación, como parte de un plan a largo plazo.

Remarcó que este proyecto se enmarca dentro de la estrategia nacional para fortalecer la seguridad ciudadana, que incluye el refuerzo de la vigilancia en centros penitenciarios, la lucha contra la criminalidad organizada y el uso de tecnología avanzada en la administración de justicia.

El centro de monitoreo, que estará operativo las 24 horas, también se integrará con bases de datos como RENIEC e INTERPOL, lo que permitirá identificar personas en tiempo real y reforzar la seguridad externa del penal. Además, el reconocimiento facial facilitará la identificación inmediata de visitantes y personal autorizado, evitando suplantaciones o ingresos irregulares.

The head of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (MINJUSDH) stated that this advance marks a turning point in prison administration, allowing for more efficient control of the inmate population. “We will not allow prisons to become centers of operations for criminal networks. With this modern system, we are strengthening prison control and citizen security,” he stated.

He noted that this model will be replicated in other prisons across the country, as part of a comprehensive plan to strengthen prison infrastructure. “Artificial intelligence will allow us to improve security, prevent crimes, and ensure that sentences are served under strict control,” he stated.

He added that this act represents a clear example that the Executive Branch, led by President Dina Boluarte, “fulfills its promises” in the fight against crime and the constant improvement of the prison system.

Minister Arana also reaffirmed the commitment of the MINJUSDH and INPE to improving working conditions, including wages and training, as part of a long-term plan.

He emphasized that this project is part of the national strategy to strengthen citizen security, which includes strengthening surveillance in prisons, combating organized crime, and using advanced technology in the administration of justice.

The monitoring center, which will be operational 24/7, will also be integrated with databases such as RENIEC and INTERPOL, allowing for real-time identification of individuals and strengthening the prison’s external security. In addition, facial recognition will facilitate the immediate identification of visitors and authorized personnel, preventing identity theft or irregular entry.
