Durante su participación en el cierre de la tercera sesión ordinaria del Consejo Nacional de Seguridad Ciudadana (Conasec), el mandatario sostuvo que “podremos irnos, dentro de pocos días, mostrando resultados concretos y un cambio en la actitud que tiene la ciudadanía con respecto a la Policía Nacional”.

“Estamos avanzando en la dirección de institucionalizar y, sobre todo, legitimar la actuación de las instituciones públicas. Cuando la ciudadanía pueda identificarse con la policía, diciendo mi Policía Nacional, es decir, que la sienta como suya, cercana y que la protege, habremos dado un paso enorme”, anotó.

“Y durante estos pocos meses hemos conseguido iniciar el camino para recuperar la confianza en todas las instituciones de nuestro país, especialmente en la Policía Nacional del Perú”, subrayó.

El jefe del Estado también destacó la importante labor de la PNP “en momentos tan complejos y difíciles como los que hemos vivido durante las últimas semanas y meses”.

En ese sentido, al señalar que le consta que no ha sido un trabajo fácil y que ha habido todo tipo de situaciones, resaltó el manejo profesional y respetuoso de la PNP con relación a los derechos humanos y la necesidad de mantener el orden público, en beneficio de la ciudadanía.

“En este poco tiempo que tenemos en el Gobierno, como en muchos otros campos, hemos logrado demostrar que es posible hacer cambios significativos, avanzar en temas tan diversos como la vacunación, los procesos electorales, la recuperación económica y, en el caso que estamos viendo ahora, el trabajo de la Policía Nacional del Perú para garantizar la seguridad y la integridad de toda la ciudadanía en el curso de sus actividades normales”, indicó.

El presidente Sagasti apuntó que la sesión del Conasec de esta tarde “ha sido la última que tendremos” antes de que concluya el Gobierno de Transición y de Emergencia y, al respecto, expresó su agradecimiento a los ministros de Estado y a las diferentes autoridades que participaron tan activamente en esta tarea.

También agradeció la labor de la presidenta del Poder Judicial, Elvia Barrios, por apoyar, de manera continua, un trabajo tan complejo como es garantizar la seguridad ciudadana con justicia y pleno respeto a los derechos humanos.

La sesión contó con la participación de la jefa del Gabinete Ministerial, Violeta Bermúdez; de la titular del Poder Judicial, Elvia Barrios; y del presidente de la Asamblea Nacional de Gobiernos Regionales (ANGR), Carlos Rúa.

Asimismo, de los ministros de Comercio Exterior y Turismo, Claudia Cornejo; de Desarrollo e Inclusión Social, Silvana Vargas; de Economía y Finanzas, Waldo Mendoza; de Educación, Ricardo Cuenca; del Interior, José Elice; de Justicia, Eduardo Vega; y de la Mujer y Poblaciones Vulnerables; Silvia Loli; entre otras autoridades.

During his participation in the closing of the third ordinary session of the National Council for Citizen Security (Conasec), the president said that “we will be able to leave, within a few days, showing concrete results and a change in the attitude that citizens have regarding the National Police ”.

“We are moving in the direction of institutionalizing and, above all, legitimizing the actions of public institutions. When citizens can identify with the police, saying my National Police, that is, that they feel like theirs, close and protected, we will have taken a huge step ”, he noted.

“And during these few months we have managed to start the path to regain confidence in all the institutions of our country, especially in the National Police of Peru,” he stressed.

The head of state also highlighted the important work of the PNP “in times as complex and difficult as those we have experienced in recent weeks and months.”

In this sense, noting that he is aware that it has not been an easy job and that there have been all kinds of situations, he highlighted the professional and respectful handling of the PNP in relation to human rights and the need to maintain public order, in benefit of citizenship.

“In this little time that we have in the Government, as in many other fields, we have managed to show that it is possible to make significant changes, advance on issues as diverse as vaccination, electoral processes, economic recovery and, in the case that we are seeing now, the work of the National Police of Peru to guarantee the safety and integrity of all citizens in the course of their normal activities ”, he indicates.

President Sagasti pointed out that the Conasec session this afternoon “has been the last we will have” before the end of the Transitional and Emergency Government and, in this regard, expressed his gratitude to the Ministers of State and the different authorities that participated so actively in this task.

He also thanked the president of the Judiciary, Elvia Barrios, for continuously supporting such complex work as guaranteeing citizen security with justice and full respect for human rights.

The session was attended by the head of the Ministerial Cabinet, Violeta Bermúdez; the head of the Judiciary, Elvia Barrios; and the president of the National Assembly of Regional Governments (ANGR), Carlos Rúa.
