English translation
“United for the Bicentennial” ceremony was led by Head of State Francisco Sagasti, before concluding his government.

Peruvian News Agency PRENSAPERU.PE https://prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe President Francisco Sagasti led the ceremony “United for the Bicentennial”, which was attended by King Felipe VI, the presidents of Ecuador Guillermo Lasso; and from Chile, Sebastián Piñeira; and the vice presidents of Paraguay, Hugo Velázquez; and from Brazil, Hamilton Mourao.

Also participating in the commemoration of the Bicentennial were the presidents of the Congress of the Republic and the Judicial Power; in the same way, the holder of the Presidency of the PCM Council of Ministers, and the holders of the ministerial portfolios of Defense, Culture: the mayor of Lima, the apostolic nuncio, and the archbishop of Lima.

The Peruvian head of state indicated in his message that Peru is a country that is characterized among all the nations of the world for being megadiverse, megadiverse, with a diversity of diversities that amazes all Peruvians and the world, diverse is its geography that challenges those who visit to navigate its infinite ocean, its surprising and meandering rivers and its mysterious lakes that invite you to marvel at the majestic mountains and imposing Andes mountain range. and that seduces with its exuberant and lush Amazon jungle.

Peru has everything in terms of geography, in terms of ecosystems, we are one of the richest countries in terms of the diversity of ecosystems that we have more than 85 of the 105 possible ecosystems in the world.

But even more than that, Peru is a diverse country for its people, for its cultures and for millenary civilizations, and for its solidarity and deeply friendly people, not only among us, but also with anyone who visits us.

In a nation as we have heard here now when the multilingual, multicultural national anthem has been sung; And two hundred years after independence, we want to acknowledge that cultural diversity, that linguistic diversity that makes our country a very rich country in terms of cultural options, in terms of development options.

We hope that this geographical, cultural and social diversity that you, esteemed representatives of the sister republics of Peru, will be able to find common ground that will allow us to strengthen our ties and value the camaraderie, cooperation and unity that should characterize the Ibero-American nations.

Latin America is one of the few regions of the world where one can understand one another in the same language from the Rio Grande on the border with the United States to Patagonia and the Iberian Peninsula; Our languages, which have the same base, have the same structure, allow us to communicate in a way that would be impossible in other regions of the world.

That is why we have the possibility and even almost the obligation to understand each other, to look for ways to cooperate, to be in solidarity with each other in all nations, throughout the Ibero-American region.

Besides that, you have heard a few moments ago the artistic and cultural expressions that characterize our country. But all of us, in addition to that, have something in common, it is a sample of the free spirit, solidarity and understanding in Latin America.

All of us and the entire world appreciate and recognize the richness and creativity of literati as well as artists.

The bicentennial does not only mean commemorating the two hundred years of independent life from our birth as a State, as a republic. Throughout history we have had many men and women who have sacrificed their lives and inscribed their names on the most vivid pages of our history.

These two hundred years have not given us a legacy of heroism, they have given us a legacy of loyalty to the homeland, they have given us a legacy, they have given us an example that we must emulate as we begin our third century of independent life tomorrow.

For this it is necessary to recognize each other as equal, with equal rights, with equal opportunities in that beautiful diversity that has been highlighted with a national anthem sung in various native languages of our beloved Peru.

The bicentennial finds not only us Latin America, but the whole world in the midst of a pandemic and in a context in which we are trying to reactivate our economies to increase the well-being and prosperity of all our peoples.

We are in a very complex situation that requires the collaboration of all countries that requires equity in terms of access not only to vaccines, but also to medical services and supplies that will allow us to face the threat not only to ourselves but to the entire world. that this pandemic represents.

But in the midst of this complex situation that we have, what we have tried to imagine is what the future of our country will be like, what the future of Latin America will be like in the next century, how we will celebrate at different times our tricentennial of independent life, if it will be marked. for an ever greater rapprochement with Spain with Portugal with whom in recent years we have formed bonds of friendship and union.

Today I imagine Peru in the twenty-second century and I visualize it as a country proud of its roots that has developed its wide potentialities, that is working for the future for a quarter century of independent life without discrimination of any kind, where all Peruvians and inhabitants from our beautiful and diverse country can imagine, design, choose and put into practice their own life projects.

I imagine Peru in 2121 will be a country that will have managed to change the perception of development as a mere accumulation of goods and will have paid attention to solidarity, opportunities for all, care and protection of the environment, care and protection of ecosystems that support and sustain human life.

We have all the countries of the world at this moment that we begin to see the impact that climate change is causing, the obligation to work together during the next century to ensure that the possibilities of development, well-being and prosperity, with environmental sustainability are a reality for all of us.

The Peru of 2121 will be inclusive, it will be a country that respects diversity as we have mentioned before and a country in which we all have a dignified life.

During the pandemic we have seen acts of daily heroism, we have seen the solidarity of those who take care of us and they have made us realize that we must take care of those who take care of us.

I invite all Peruvians, having as witnesses the leaders of the brother countries, to renew their faith in the future of the country, to renew our commitment to development, equality and equity; based on that millenary history that we have, but also looking to the future with all the advances that scientific knowledge, technological development and innovation are increasingly putting within our reach.

When we started the Transitional and Emergency Government, just eight and a half months ago, a government that ends when the presidential sash is handed over to the president of Congress, and the president of Congress imposes it on the president who has been freely elected by all citizens. .

During this brief time we have set ourselves, fundamentally two objectives in the first place of course in addition to fighting the pandemic, reactivating the economy, which we do with the education that we do with investment, the two central objectives that we set ourselves, after a turbulent period Our political history was first of all, to regain the trust of all citizens, to regain the confidence that it is possible to govern ourselves well, to govern ourselves with honesty, to govern ourselves with transparency, always thinking about the common good and with a vocation of service.

In this short time, I aspire that the Transitional and Emergency Government be known and recognized for this small contribution that we have made to make our country, our beloved Peru in the first years of its third century of independent life, a just Peru, for the union and for the future of all Peruvians, let’s think about this renewal of the republican spirit that encouraged our independence and two hundred years later, let’s say long live the bicentennial and long live Peru, concluded the Peruvian president.
