Ello, aseguró, habría originado que la población percibiera el movimiento con intensidad en varias localidades del norte del país, incluso hasta en Ecuador.
Tavera, afirmó que la afectación ocasionada por el intenso movimiento del suelo dejó daños parciales en viviendas de adobe, quincha y barro, con el desprendimiento de estuque y el colapso de algunas paredes de material noble.
El científico del IGP, órgano adscrito al Ministerio del Ambiente, refirió que los estudios geofísicos realizados en el año 2020 sobre las dinámicas de los suelos de las ciudades de Piura y Sullana, fueron entregados oportunamente a las autoridades locales y regionales para la correcta gestión de riesgo de desastres
Señaló que el sismo ocurrido en Piura, así como en Trujillo, La Libertad, dos de ellos de M5.8 y M5.1, no es muy frecuente en la región norte del país.
“En La Libertad los sismos de la semana pasada ocurrieron en el mar y el evento de hoy en Piura fue debajo de la ciudad, lo que nos demuestra que todo nuestro país siempre fue, es y será afectado por estos fenómenos naturales”, expresó.
El titular del IGP resaltó que, si conocemos y entendemos estos sismos, como habitante del territorio peruano, debemos estar siempre preparados, conocer nuestras viviendas y dialogar con todos los miembros de nuestra familia.
Tavera invocó a la población a seguir las instrucciones y recomendaciones del Instituto de Defensa Civil (Indeci).
