También estuvieron presentes en el encuentro César Hooker, gerente de Bienestar y Autosuficiencia de área y Guillermo Estrugo, director de Comunicación de área.

La primera dama, acompañada de su comitiva oficial de la oficina de apoyo al cónyuge del presidente de la república, fue recibida por el élder Jorge Zeballos e iniciaron el encuentro con un recorrido por las oficinas administrativas de la Iglesia en Perú.

Durante la reunión se presentó el programa de ayuda humanitaria de la Iglesia con algunos proyectos realizados en Perú, así como en otros países del área. César Hooker también habló de las prioridades y enfoque para los próximos cinco años en proyectos de salud, discapacidad, seguridad alimentaria y agua limpia, así como en educación y empleo, los cuales buscan la autosostenibilidad de los más necesitados.

Luego de ver un video resumen de las ayudas realizadas, la primera dama, visiblemente emocionada, expresó: “Quiero agradecerles y también a Dios por tener personas como ustedes. Es una alegría especial para mi el ver todo lo que han hecho y seguirán haciendo en beneficio de los más necesitados […] Sé que con la ayuda de ustedes vamos a lograr muchas cosas en beneficio de las personas que lo necesitan”.

Por su parte élder Zeballos dijo: “Para La Iglesia es un privilegio coordinar acciones de ayuda con todas las organizaciones formales que tienen el noble rol de mirar al pobre y necesitado. De hecho, esa es la enseñanza del Salvador Jesucristo. Celebramos el honor de su visita y el aunar esfuerzos con su oficina para alivianar las cargas de quienes sufren”

Al terminar la reunión, élder Zeballos ofreció una oración en la que pidió una bendición especial por el Perú y por la familia presidencial ahora que inicia su mandato. Luego de ello, élder Zeballos y su esposa Carmen Gloria entregaron un ramo de flores y una escultura de la familia a la primera dama. También recibió una copia de “La Familia: Una proclamación para el mundo”, documento que declara la posición de la Iglesia respecto a la Familia y “El Cristo viviente” que resume la doctrina de la Iglesia sobre Jesucristo.

Uno de los enfoques importantes de La Iglesia de Jesucristo es el valor que tiene la familia como eje del desarrollo de las sociedades, según apuntó élder Zeballos.

Culminó el encuentro con una visita al Centro de Capacitación Misional (CCM) donde recorrieron las diversas instalaciones del complejo en el que jóvenes voluntarios de diferentes partes del mundo, que han sido llamados a servir en una misión, son capacitados para la prédica del evangelio de Jesucristo.

Lilia Paredes es esposa de Pedro Castillo Terrones, presidente del Perú, quien en el mes de Julio juramentó al cargo. Tiene el grado de bachiller en educación y una maestría en psicología educativa. Ella junto al equipo de la oficina de apoyo al cónyuge del presidente de la república del Perú realizará acciones y gestiones dirigidas a beneficiar a población vulnerable del país.

La Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días, históricamente, destina esfuerzos y recursos para ayudar a las poblaciones más necesitadas en el mundo entero sin contemplar asuntos raciales, de género, religión o estrato social. Está presente en el país hace más de seis décadas y tiene una membresía oficialmente inscrita de casi setecientos mil miembros.

At the end of the meeting, Elder Zeballos offered a prayer in which he asked for a special blessing for Peru and for the presidential family as he begins his term. After that, Elder Zeballos and his wife Carmen Gloria presented a bouquet of flowers and a sculpture of the family to the first lady. He also received a copy of “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” a document that states the Church’s position on the Family and “The Living Christ” that summarizes the Church’s doctrine on Jesus Christ.

Lilia Paredes is the wife of Pedro Castillo Terrones, president of Peru, who was sworn into office in July. He has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in educational psychology.
