Reunión del presidente de la República, Pedro Castillo y la secretaria ejecutiva de la (Cepal), Alicia Bárcena.

Agencia Peruana de Noticias PRENSAPERU.PE https://prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe El presidente de la República, Pedro Castillo, sostuvo hoy una reunión de trabajo con la secretaria ejecutiva de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (Cepal), Alicia Bárcena, en el que se intercambiaron visiones sobre aspectos económicos y sociales en común; y acordaron estrechar lazos de cooperación entre Perú y la CEPAL.

La reunión se llevó a cabo en el marco de la visita oficial que cumple el mandatario peruano en México, donde participó en la VI Cumbre de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (Celac).

El jefe del Estado subrayó la importancia de la cita, la primera que sostiene con la máxima representante de este importante organismo de las Naciones Unidas, donde manifestó que su gobierno trabaja por alcanzar un gran crecimiento económico, y subrayó que el gran reto es lograr que este se convierta en desarrollo social.

Durante la reunión, el mandatario expuso a la secretaria ejecutiva de la Cepal algunas de las problemáticas que afronta el país y, en ese sentido, mencionó el caso de los niños de Cerro de Pasco afectados por la contaminación de plomo en la sangre. Asimismo, informó sobre la distribución del presupuesto que se destina a los gobiernos regionales y locales.

En la cita de trabajo, el presidente Castillo estuvo acompañado por el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Óscar Maúrtua, quien integra la comitiva oficial que también participará en las actividades oficiales que el mandatario cumplirá este 20 y 21 de setiembre en Estados Unidos.

Como se recuerda la sede de la Cepal está en Santiago de Chile, y es una de las cinco comisiones regionales de las Naciones Unidas. Fue fundada para contribuir al desarrollo económico de América Latina, coordinar las acciones encaminadas a su promoción y reforzar las relaciones económicas con las demás naciones del mundo. Posteriormente, su labor se amplió a los países del Caribe y se incorporó el objetivo de promover el desarrollo social.

Durante su segundo día de la agenda de trabajo internacional que desarrolla en México, el jefe de Estado se reunió con sus homólogos de Bolivia, Luis Arce; y de México, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

The Head of State stressed the importance of the meeting, the first he holds with the highest representative of this important United Nations body, where he stated that his government is working to achieve great economic growth, and stressed that the great challenge is to achieve that this becomes social development.

During the meeting, the president explained to the executive secretary of ECLAC some of the problems facing the country and, in that sense, he mentioned the case of the children of Cerro de Pasco affected by lead contamination in the blood. He also reported on the distribution of the budget that is allocated to regional and local governments.

At the work appointment, President Castillo was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Óscar Maúrtua, who is part of the official delegation that will also participate in the official activities that the president will carry out on September 20 and 21 in the United States.
