A bordo de una embarcación, personal de salud de la Red EsSalud Puno surcó las aguas del impetuoso lago para desplazarse hasta la comunidad de Uros, donde aplicó las dosis del antígeno a mujeres y hombres que los protege de la temida enfermedad.

La enfermera Yovanna Gonzáles, coordinadora de Inmunizaciones Covid-19 de la Red Asistencial Puno de EsSalud, dijo que esta labor forma parte de la nueva estrategia que viene aplicando el Seguro Social con el fin de vacunar a más peruanos contra el nuevo coronavirus.

Sostuvo que los habitantes de esta comunidad les resulta difícil trasladarse hasta un centro de vacunación que está en la zona urbana, debido a que viven y realizan sus actividades en las islas flotantes que se ubican en la bahía de Puno.

“En Puno tenemos poblaciones dispersas y como parte de la nueva estrategia, vamos al encuentro de estas comunidades, que están en zonas alejadas, para aplicarles las vacunas y así protegerlos contra la covid”, manifestó.

Como parte de la estrategia, el personal de salud también envió mensajes en quechua y aimara, lenguas ancestrales de la comunidad, para sensibilizar a la población sobre la importancia de vacunarse contra el nuevo coronavirus.

Las familias de Los Uros se dedican, principalmente, a la agricultura pero también realizan actividades de pesca. Viven del turismo y su principal medio de transporte son las balsas de totora, una planta acuática que crece en el lago Titicaca.

“Para nosotros (el personal de salud) no hay distancia ni obstáculo que impida nuestra labor cuando se trata de proteger la salud de la población”, enfatizó la profesional de la salud.

POBLACIÓN VACUNADA
A la fecha, la Red EsSalud Puno vacunó contra la Covid-19 a más de 15 mil personas aseguradas y no aseguradas de 30 años a más, adultos mayores, gestantes, pacientes oncológicos o con enfermedades raras o huérfanas, entre otros.

Recientemente, personal de salud inició la vacunación a jóvenes de 20 años a más, labor que se desarrolla en los centros habilitados para tal fin en el colegio La Merced y en el óvalo Ramón Castilla.

En una reciente visita de trabajo a Puno, el presidente ejecutivo de EsSalud, Mario Carhuapoma, resaltó la importancia de la vacunación contra la Covid-19 por cuanto permitirá reactivar la economía y el turismo en esa región y en el país.

“In Puno we have dispersed populations and as part of the new strategy, we are going to meet these communities, which are in remote areas, to apply vaccines and thus protect them against covid,” he said.

As part of the strategy, health personnel also sent messages in Quechua and Aymara, ancestral languages ​​of the community, to sensitize the population about the importance of getting vaccinated against the new coronavirus.

Los Uros families are mainly engaged in agriculture but also carry out fishing activities. They live from tourism and their main means of transportation are the totora rafts, an aquatic plant that grows in Lake Titicaca.

“For us (the health personnel) there is no distance or obstacle that prevents our work when it comes to protecting the health of the population,” emphasized the health professional.

VACCINATED POPULATION
To date, the EsSalud Puno Network has vaccinated against Covid-19 more than 15 thousand insured and uninsured people aged 30 years and over, older adults, pregnant women, cancer patients or with rare or orphan diseases, among others.

Recently, health personnel began vaccinating young people aged 20 and over, a task that is carried out in the centers set up for this purpose at the La Merced school and at the Ramón Castilla oval.

In a recent working visit to Puno, the executive president of EsSalud, Mario Carhuapoma, highlighted the importance of vaccination against Covid-19 as it will allow the economy and tourism to reactivate in that region and in the country.
