El primer proyecto a ejecutarse en esta etapa consiste en el “Desarrollo y fortalecimiento de capacidades productivas y ocupacionales de las mujeres cabeza de familia en situación de especial vulnerabilidad de la ciudad de Arequipa” que beneficiará a más de 720 familias de los sectores más necesitados de nuestra ciudad.

En la primera fase del proyecto las madres de familia provendrán, principalmente, de los distritos de Cerro Colorado, Cayma, Mariano Melgar, Miraflores, Paucarpata, Socabaya y Hunter, aunque también está previsto acoger a aquellas provenientes de otros lugares de la ciudad que necesiten de este apoyo. Se les capacitará en la preparación de empanadas, salteñas, bocaditos salados y dulces, pasteles y tortas. Además, se les entregará un kit conformado por utensilios de repostería, batidora y horno, con lo cual, al término de su capacitación, estarán preparadas para poder iniciar emprendimientos que mejoren la calidad de vida de sus familias.

Culminada esta primera fase, los equipos serán utilizados en la formación de los alumnos de la Escuela de Cocina del Centro de Estudios y Desarrollo Humano Integral – CEDHI “Nueva Arequipa”, en el cual se viene construyendo un taller de panadería y repostería.

El mencionado proyecto, cuyo presupuesto es de S/. 267,080, será cubierto gracias a un aporte de S/. 156,680 por parte de La Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días, el cual fue entregado por el Elder Jorge Zeballos, Presidente del Área Sudamérica Noroeste y Guillermo Estrugo, director de Comunicación de la misma.

En sus palabras de agradecimiento al recibir la donación, Monseñor Javier Del Río, Arzobispo de Arequipa, informó que el aporte de Cáritas Arequipa para este proyecto está valorizado en S/. 102,000 y la contribución conjunta de todas las beneficiarias será de S/. 8,400. Asimismo, destacó que no es la primera vez que La Iglesia de Jesucristo y la Arquidiócesis de Arequipa unen esfuerzos para ayudar a familias en situación de necesidad, sino que antes lo han hecho también a favor de los alumnos del colegio “Jesús Nazareno” de Paucarpata y del Centro de Estudios y Desarrollo Humano Integral “Nueva Arequipa” en Cono Norte.
