Al respecto, sostuvo que el Ministerio de Cultura está muy comprometido con la recuperación de Kuélap y de todos los sitios arqueológicos, para ser puestos a disposición de la ciudadanía y su uso responsable.

“Con el tema Kuélap, cuando llegamos habíamos encontrado una cierta parálisis, sin embargo, hemos logrado rápidamente que se reactive con un equipo de especialistas de talla internacional. Realmente son ellos, quienes posiblemente, en la quincena de agosto nos den la apertura de este tramo parcial para visitar”, dijo la titular de Cultura.

Indicó que, con los especialistas, se está diseñando una nueva ruta en el interior del monumento. Un nuevo camino, de manera que se pueda tener otro acceso. Además, dijo que se está investigando alguna ruta que se haya utilizado en algún momento, con la finalidad de tener una visita y experiencia segura en dicha Zona Arqueológica.

La ministra hizo una invocación a la ciudadanía, para que, cuando se abra el acceso a Kuélap, protejan y preserven el patrimonio para las próximas generaciones, siguiendo todas las recomendaciones para su cuidado.

“Aquí se ha hecho una inversión de casi 2 millones de soles para poder reabrir el monumento, dado que en abril del año pasado se realizó este derrumbe y se tuvo que cerrar por seguridad. Estamos trabajando de la mano con la Gerencia de Turismo del Gobierno Regional, con INDECI, con los especialistas de las universidades de la zona y también con Cooperación Internacional para la reapertura de Kuélap”, acotó.

Urteaga informó que ahora están trabajando cerca de 70 personas en Kuélap en la estabilización del monumento arqueológico, para no poner en riesgo ni a los visitantes ni a los propios trabajadores.

“Estamos trabajando desde el primer día por la recuperación de nuestro importante monumento de Chachapoyas, pero también hay que considerar que necesitamos estabilizar el monumento”, señaló la ministra, tras mencionar que en este lugar existe una filtración de agua que ha estado por mucho tiempo, por lo que se han desarrollado trabajos de impermeabilización.
