“Nuestra posición es unitaria y firme, no vamos a retroceder en la defensa de la vida, la paz y la tranquilidad de todos los peruanos; menos en materia de terrorismo que tanto daño causó a millones de peruanos”, indicó el jefe del Gabinete Ministerial en conferencia de prensa.
 
Previamente, el titular de la Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros (PCM) sostuvo una reunión de trabajo con el ministro de Justicia y Derechos Humanos, Daniel Maurate Romero; el procurador general del Estado, Daniel Soria Luján; el procurador público especializado en delitos de terrorismo del Ministerio del Interior, Milko Ruiz Espinoza; y el procurador público adjunto especializado supranacional, Carlos Llaja Villena.
 
Tras la reunión, el premier Otárola enfatizó que el Estado no permitirá que se enerve el sentido de la sentencia expedida por los tribunales peruanos contra el condenado por terrorismo, Víctor Polay.

Asimismo, informó que se acordó activar el grupo de trabajo intersectorial para la defensa jurídica del Estado en casos de terrorismo ante el Sistema Interamericano de Protección de los Derechos Humanos. “Con ello convocaremos a todos los poderes públicos para reuniones bimensuales de coordinación y de planificación para la defensa del Estado”, añadió.

El jefe del Gabinete Ministerial también anunció que se destinarán recursos adicionales para fortalecer la labor de la Procuraduría Supranacional. “Vamos a reforzar el equipo de abogados, de expertos, de peritos y de la tecnología necesaria para la mejor defensa del Estado”, declaró.

Además, se recordó que Víctor Polay enfrenta un proceso judicial por los asesinatos del caso “Las Gardenias”, y una investigación por apología al terrorismo. 

“Durante el gobierno de la presidenta Boluarte este terrorista no saldrá de prisión. El Gobierno tiene la responsabilidad de pedir la prisión preventiva y el enjuiciamiento de este terrorista por los otros graves delitos de lesa humanidad. Para ello invocamos al Ministerio Público y al Poder Judicial para que actúen de manera célere y se consoliden los procesos, a fin de que no siga afectando los derechos de miles de peruanos”, expresó.

Finalmente, Otárola Peñaranda reafirmó la pertenencia del Perú al Sistema Interamericano de Protección de los Derechos Humanos y destacó que es una garantía para todos los peruanos. “Somos respetuosos de los tratados internacionales, pero también, cuando debemos hacerlo, elevamos nuestra voz de protesta frente a actos que afectan la conciencia y dignidad de millones de peruanos”, concluyó.

Previously, the head of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) held a working meeting with the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Daniel Maurate Romero; the State Attorney General, Daniel Soria Luján; the public prosecutor specializing in crimes of terrorism from the Ministry of the Interior, Milko Ruiz Espinoza; and the specialized supranational deputy public prosecutor, Carlos Llaja Villena.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Otárola emphasized that the State will not allow the meaning of the sentence issued by the Peruvian courts against the person convicted of terrorism, Víctor Polay, to be weakened.

It also reported that it was agreed to activate the intersectoral working group for the legal defense of the State in cases of terrorism before the Inter-American System for the Protection of Human Rights. “With this we will convene all public powers for bimonthly coordination and planning meetings for the defense of the State,” he added.

The head of the Ministerial Cabinet also announced that additional resources will be allocated to strengthen the work of the Supranational Attorney General’s Office. “We are going to strengthen the team of lawyers, experts, experts and the necessary technology for the best defense of the State,” he declared.

In addition, it was recalled that Víctor Polay faces legal proceedings for the murders in the “Las Gardenias” case, and an investigation for apology for terrorism.

“During the government of President Boluarte, this terrorist will not be released from prison. The Government has the responsibility to request the preventive detention and prosecution of this terrorist for other serious crimes against humanity. For this, we invoke the Public Ministry and the Judiciary so that they act quickly and consolidate the processes, so that the rights of thousands of Peruvians are no longer affected,” he said.

Finally, Otárola Peñaranda reaffirmed Peru’s membership in the Inter-American System for the Protection of Human Rights and stressed that it is a guarantee for all Peruvians. “We are respectful of international treaties, but also, when we must, we raise our voice in protest against acts that affect the conscience and dignity of millions of Peruvians,” he concluded.
