Resaltó que con la unión y el compromiso político de todos los peruanos se puede resolver esta problemática en los próximos 10 a 15 años como lo han hecho otros países de la región.

La titular del MVCS inauguró en la mañana del último jueves el foro “Unidos por el Agua y el Saneamiento”, evento que organiza su sector con la participación de más de 400 autoridades nacionales, regionales y locales, así como actores técnicos, políticos y sociales con el fin de articular esfuerzos y generar propuestas que permitan ejecutar obras de agua y saneamiento en los lugares donde no se cuenta con estos servicios.

“No quisiera declarar inaugurado el evento sin agradecer la presencia de todos y cada uno de ustedes y haciendo un llamado: trabajemos unidos por el acceso al agua potable y al saneamiento y que este deje de ser una lucha y se convierta en un verdadero derecho de todos los peruanos”, expresó.

Manifestó que el Gobierno, desde el sector Vivienda y en esta gestión, viene trabajando arduamente para cerrar estas brechas, destrabando e impulsando proyectos que permitan llegar a zonas muy alejadas del país, donde nunca hubo agua.

Asimismo, se mostró optimista que, en este foro, que congrega a los principales actores y autoridades de los tres niveles de gobierno, del Congreso, sector público y dirigentes sociales, se encontrarán alternativas para ofrecer un servicio sostenible en el tiempo.

FIRMA DEL PACTO
La titular de Vivienda destacó que, al término del foro, los participantes firmarán por primera vez el Pacto Nacional denominado “Unidos por el Agua y el Saneamiento”, documento que contiene seis compromisos y un llamado a la acción para que todos los firmantes asuman un rol activo en el desarrollo de iniciativas que permitan lograr el acceso universal a los servicios de agua potable y saneamiento.

“Este encuentro marcará un antes y un después en la historia del agua potable y el saneamiento en el Perú. Hagamos honor a nuestra firma y agradezcamos la confianza que han depositado nuestros hermanos y hermanas con trabajo duro y honesto para llevar este servicio a todo el Perú. Que entendamos todos de una vez por todas, que el agua es pura y no debe estar contaminada por la corrupción y que es transparente, porque no tiene color político”, expresó.

EXPOSITORES
En la inauguración del evento participó Pedro Arrojo-Agudo, relator especial sobre los derechos humanos al agua potable y al saneamiento de la ONU, quien resaltó la importancia de la firma del pacto “Unidos por el Agua y el Saneamiento” consideró que la participación efectiva de las autoridades y los sectores sociales, por encima de opciones partidarias, es fundamental para alcanzar acuerdos sólidos en materia de agua y saneamiento.

“Espero que este evento abra ese camino de diálogo abierto, sincero, con los defensores y defensoras del agua para promover una gestión del agua basada en un enfoque de derechos humanos”, expresó.

En el evento, que se desarrollará hasta el viernes 8 de setiembre en el Centro de Convenciones de Lima (LCC), se abordarán temas referidos al diagnóstico de la seguridad hídrica en el Perú, la sostenibilidad de los servicios y los retos que afrontamos, el panorama mundial del agua y otras materias.

Participan como expositores Gonzalo Delacámara (España), director del Centro de Agua y Adaptación al Clima de IE University; Tania Páez (Argentina), especialista senior de la División de Agua y Saneamiento del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID); Zael Sanz (España), especialista senior en agua y saneamiento del Banco Mundial, entre otros.

SIGNING OF THE PACT
The head of Housing highlighted that, at the end of the forum, the participants will sign for the first time the National Pact called “United for Water and Sanitation”, a document that contains six commitments and a call to action so that all signatories assume a active role in the development of initiatives that allow achieving universal access to drinking water and sanitation services.

“This meeting will mark a before and after in the history of drinking water and sanitation in Peru. Let us honor our signature and be grateful for the trust that our brothers and sisters have placed with hard and honest work to bring this service to all of Peru. May we all understand, once and for all, that water is pure and should not be contaminated by corruption and that it is transparent, because it has no political color,” he expressed.

EXHIBITORS
Pedro Arrojo-Agudo, special rapporteur on the human rights to drinking water and sanitation of the UN, participated in the opening of the event, who highlighted the importance of the signing of the “United for Water and Sanitation” pact, considering that effective participation of the authorities and social sectors, above partisan options, is essential to reach solid agreements on water and sanitation.

“I hope that this event opens that path of open, sincere dialogue with water defenders to promote water management based on a human rights approach,” he expressed.

At the event, which will take place until Friday, September 8 at the Lima Convention Center (LCC), topics related to the diagnosis of water security in Peru, the sustainability of services and the challenges we face, the world panorama of water and other matters.
