En el encuentro, el jefe del Gabinete Ministerial destacó el relanzamiento de la cooperación bilateral entre el Perú y los Estados Unidos, que contribuirá en la lucha contra el narcotráfico y la promoción del desarrollo alternativo, especialmente en las zonas donde se cultivan las hojas de coca.

La cita se desarrolló en las oficinas del Departamento de Estado y contó con la presencia de los ministros de Relaciones Exteriores, Ana Gervasi Díaz; Justicia y Derechos Humanos, Eduardo Arana Ysa, y Cultura, Leslie Urteaga Peña.

En el diálogo se trataron las acciones conjuntas que promueven ambos países en materia de desarrollo cultural, defensa y protección del medioambiente.

En esa línea, se destacó el proceso de implementación del Acuerdo de Interceptación Aérea suscrito por los gobiernos del Perú y los Estados Unidos, mecanismo que profundiza la relación bilateral.

En otro momento, el titular de la Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros (PCM) hizo hincapié en las oportunidades de inversión que ofrece el Perú y las garantías que brinda el gobierno para su desarrollo y éxito.

En esa línea, expresó las expectativas de gobierno en el potencial de la Asociación de las Américas para la Prosperidad Económica (APEP), principalmente en áreas como inversiones e infraestructuras sostenibles.

Asimismo, las autoridades peruanas remarcaron el trabajo conjunto de ambos países para transferir al Perú la próxima presidencia del Foro de Cooperación Económica de Asia Pacífico.

El premier Alberto Otárola reconoció la disposición del secretario asistente para Asuntos del Hemisferio Occidental del Departamento de Estado de los Estados Unidos, Brian Nichols, para trabajar por el Perú, tal como lo hizo cuando fue embajador en nuestro país.
