En los dos primeros meses del año, Madre de Dios fue la región en la que más acciones preventivas contra este delito se llevaron a cabo, totalizando 18 operativos. Le siguen Arequipa y Cajamarca con 11 y 10 intervenciones, respectivamente y Áncash, donde se ejecutaron 9 acciones de control.

La Sutran, como parte de la Comisión multisectorial contra la trata de personas, realiza periódicamente controles en los terminales terrestres autorizados y en puntos aleatorios de toda la Red Vial Nacional, a fin de verificar que las empresas de transporte vendan boletos de viaje a menores de edad debidamente identificados con su Documento Nacional de Identidad (DNI) o Partida de Nacimiento, o que estén acompañados de sus padres o si viajan con un tercero, cuenten con el permiso notarial de autorización de viaje firmado por alguno de los padres.

La entidad exhorta a los usuarios que identifiquen algún hecho irregular relacionado al viaje de menores de edad, y puedan denunciarlo a la línea gratuita 1818 del Ministerio del Interior (Mininter).

La trata de personas es un delito que se comete con fines de explotación sexual, mendicidad o trabajo forzoso y suele incluir el uso de la violencia, amenazas, engaño o coacción para lograrlo.
