Al término del ejercicio, pasadas las 10:00 de la mañana, la jefa de Estado y las autoridades realizaron un primer balance de la actividad preventiva en la Sala de Operaciones del COEN, donde recibieron los reportes preliminares de las diferentes regiones.

La actividad ha simulado un sismo de gran magnitud, de 8.8 grados, con el epicentro ubicado en el mar, a 60 kilómetros de la costa del Callao, de considerable dimensión, que registró “más de 83 mil fallecidos y 5 millones de damnificados”.

Desde el COEN, la mandataria resaltó la importancia de participar en estos ejercicios preventivos, que permiten a las autoridades y a todos los peruanos poner a prueba sus planes de contingencia y a mantenerse en estado de alerta.

“Estos simulacros deben servirnos para que cada ciudadano, en sus casas, en sus hogares, y en sus centros de trabajo, identifique los lugares seguros donde se pueda ubicar durante un sismo. Frente a estas eventualidades, siempre debemos mantener la calma”, manifestó la jefa de Estado.

El objetivo del simulacro fue fortalecer las capacidades de preparación de la población frente a diversos peligros de origen natural y aquellos generados por la acción humana, a través de la participación activa de todas las personas en el entorno familiar, laboral, escolar y comunitario.

Esta actividad de preparación conmemora los 54 años del sismo ocurrido frente a las costas del departamento de Áncash, que ocasionó un aluvión que sepultó las ciudades de Yungay y Ranrahirca, dejando una profunda huella en la historia del país.

El COEN, desde donde la presidenta de la república supervisó el desarrollo del simulacro, tiene una estructura que está diseñada para soportar sismos de hasta 9.2 grados, reduciendo así el daño a las personas.

The objective of the drill was to strengthen the population’s preparation capabilities against various dangers of natural origin and those generated by human action, through the active participation of all people in the family, work, school and community environment.

This preparation activity commemorates the 54th anniversary of the earthquake that occurred off the coast of the department of Áncash, which caused a flood that buried the cities of Yungay and Ranrahirca, leaving a deep mark on the history of the country.
