Esta fecha será una ocasión propicia para recordar y reflexionar sobre cómo la actitud patriótica de las instituciones públicas más representativas y de la sociedad civil evitó que se concrete el golpe de Estado perpetrado el 7 de diciembre de 2022 por el expresidente Pedro Castillo.

Como se recuerda, en dicha fecha el Tribunal Constitucional, el Ministerio Público, el Poder Judicial, el Congreso de la República, el Comando Conjunto de las Fuerzas Armadas y la Policía Nacional, entre otras entidades, reaccionaron a la altura de lo que el Perú demandaba y cerraron filas ante el intento de subvertir el Estado de Derecho.

Debido a ello, para este sábado se ha dispuesto, conforme al referido decreto, el izamiento de la bandera nacional en todo el territorio del país, en actos públicos en los que deben participar las autoridades locales y regionales según corresponda.

De esta forma se busca generar conciencia entre la población sobre la madurez política alcanzada en el país y la relevancia de promover los valores democráticos, así como estimular el compromiso colectivo en torno a la importancia de resguardar la democracia y la institucionalidad, medios insustituibles para lograr el bienestar general.

This December 7, the Day of Institutionality, the Rule of Law and the Defense of Democracy will be commemorated, according to Supreme Decree No. 136-2023-PCM.

This date will be a favorable occasion to remember and reflect on how the patriotic attitude of the most representative public institutions and civil society prevented the coup d’état perpetrated on December 7, 2022 by former president Pedro Castillo from taking place.

As it is recalled, on that date the Constitutional Court, the Public Ministry, the Judiciary, the Congress of the Republic, the Joint Command of the Armed Forces and the National Police, among other entities, reacted at the level of what Peru demanded and they closed ranks in the face of the attempt to subvert the rule of law.

Due to this, for this Saturday it has been arranged, in accordance with the aforementioned decree, the raising of the national flag throughout the country, in public events in which local and regional authorities must participate as appropriate.

In this way, the aim is to raise awareness among the population about the political maturity achieved in the country and the relevance of promoting democratic values, as well as to stimulate collective commitment around the importance of safeguarding democracy and institutions, irreplaceable means to achieve the general well-being.
