La jefa de Estado detalló que esta invitación la formuló ante el sumo pontífice durante la audiencia que sostuvo con él, en el marco de la ceremonia de entronización de su santidad, realizada el último domingo.

La mandataria señaló que transmitió a León XIV el cariño de todo el pueblo peruano, y recordó que el mensaje del santo padre fue el llamado a la unidad, la fe y la paz como pilares para que la sociedad pueda avanzar.

De igual forma, la presidenta agradeció a León XIV la deferencia que tuvo con el Perú en su ceremonia de entronización, al ubicar a la delegación nacional en primera fila y ser la primera presidenta que recibió como papa.

“Este regalo que el cielo nos ha dado, el papa peruano, estoy segura hará que nos reconciliemos poco a poco, y aquellas personas vayan dejando sus odios e intereses personales y políticos, y nos unamos todos en el amor por la patria, la búsqueda de su desarrollo y disminuir la criminalidad”, dijo.

La jefa de Estado brindó estos alcances durante la ceremonia de promulgación de la ley que promueve la producción de granos andinos como la quinua, kiwicha, cañihua y tarwi, y su articulación con la industria farinácea, a fin de fortalecer la seguridad alimentaria y la agricultura familiar.

Con esta ley se promoverá el trabajo de más de 120 000 familias de productores de granos andinos ubicadas en regiones como Puno, Ayacucho, Apurímac, Cusco, La Libertad y Junín.

Tras recordar que en 2024 la producción nacional de los granos andinos fue de 144 400 toneladas, que generaron alrededor de 5.2 millones de jornales en el campo, la mandataria saludó la tarea del Congreso en la aprobación de la ley.

“No hay por qué trabajar en discordia con el Congreso, podemos tener ideas diferentes en aspectos políticos o legales como la interpelación o la censura, pero nos debe unir el trabajo por el bien de nuestra sociedad”, enfatizó la presidenta.

“Hoy no solo estamos promulgando una ley. Hoy estamos sembrando esperanza. Hoy estamos diciendo sí se puede crecer desde el campo, sí se puede alimentar al mundo con nuestros alimentos, sí se puede vivir con dignidad sin dejar nuestras raíces”, manifestó la jefa de Estado.

El Gobierno, remarcó, seguirá impulsando grandes proyectos vinculados a la agricultura, como obras hídricas en 15 regiones que permitirán ampliar la frontera agrícola a un millón de hectáreas.

The head of state explained that she extended this invitation to the Supreme Pontiff during the audience she held with him, within the framework of the enthronement ceremony of His Holiness, held last Sunday.

The president stated that she conveyed to Leo XIV the affection of the entire Peruvian people and recalled that the Holy Father’s message was a call for unity, faith, and peace as pillars for society to move forward.

Likewise, the president thanked Leo XIV for the deference he showed Peru at his enthronement ceremony, placing the national delegation in the front row and making him the first president he received as pope.

“This gift that heaven has given us, the Peruvian Pope, I am sure will bring us together little by little, and will help those people put aside their hatred and personal and political interests, and unite us all in love for the country, the pursuit of its development, and the reduction of crime,” she said.

The head of state made these announcements during the signing ceremony of the law promoting the production of Andean grains such as quinoa, kiwicha, cañihua, and tarwi, and their connection with the flour industry, in order to strengthen food security and family farming.

This law will promote the work of more than 120,000 families of Andean grain producers located in regions such as Puno, Ayacucho, Apurímac, Cusco, La Libertad, and Junín.

After noting that in 2024, national production of Andean grains was 144,400 tons, generating approximately 5.2 million day laborers in the fields, the president praised Congress’s work in approving the law.

“There’s no reason to work in disagreement with Congress. We may have different ideas on political or legal issues such as interpellation or censure, but we should be united in working for the good of our society,” the president emphasized.

“Today we are not just enacting a law. Today we are sowing hope. Today we are saying yes, we can grow from the countryside, we can feed the world with our food, we can live with dignity without abandoning our roots,” the head of state stated.

The government, she emphasized, will continue to promote major projects related to agriculture, such as waterworks in 15 regions that will expand the agricultural frontier to one million hectares.
