Agencia Peruana de Noticias PRENSAPERU.PE https://www.prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe Ante la creciente gravedad de la situación en el Medio Oriente y el riesgo de prolongación del conflicto, el Comando de Crisis liderado por el canciller Hugo de Zela se reunió para evaluar las medidas necesarias para proteger a la comunidad peruana en la zona.

En la sesión participaron el viceministro Félix Denegri, funcionarios de órganos de línea y jefes de misiones diplomáticas en países como Arabia Saudita, Catar, Emiratos Árabes Unidos, Israel, Jordania, Kuwait y Líbano. Los diplomáticos sobre el terreno presentaron detalles de la emergencia y los riesgos que implicaría permanecer en la región para los peruanos residentes, varados en tránsito, así como para sus familias y el propio personal diplomático.

Frente a esta realidad, el canciller dispuso la cancelación de la realización de las elecciones generales del 12 de abril en el Medio Oriente, comunicándose de inmediato con la ONPE para dar curso a la medida. Paralelamente, se acordó intensificar las acciones de evacuación de connacionales varados y refuerzar el personal diplomático en las misiones de Emiratos Árabes Unidos para atender la creciente demanda de información y apoyo.

El titular de Torre Tagle también hizo un llamado a los jefes de misión para que mantengan a buen recaudo junto a sus familiares y estén preparados para actuar en caso de que el conflicto se agrave. Hasta la fecha, se han evacuado 163 peruanos a zonas seguras, mientras se mantiene contacto permanente con otros 62 varados en tránsito y con los aproximadamente 5 600 residentes que puedan desear abandonar la región.

Middle East Conflict: “Peru Cancels April 12 Elections and Acts to Protect Its Citizens”.

Peruvian News Agency PRENSAPERU.PE https://www.prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe Given the growing severity of the situation in the Middle East and the risk of prolonged conflict, the Crisis Command led by Foreign Minister Hugo de Zela met to assess the necessary measures to protect the Peruvian community in the area.

The session was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Félix Denegri, officials from line agencies, and heads of diplomatic missions in countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, and Lebanon. On-the-ground diplomats provided details on the emergency and the risks of remaining in the region for Peruvian residents, those stranded in transit, as well as their families and diplomatic staff themselves.

In light of this reality, the Foreign Minister ordered the cancellation of the April 12 general elections in the Middle East, immediately notifying the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) to implement the measure. At the same time, it was agreed to intensify evacuation efforts for stranded nationals and reinforce diplomatic staff at missions in the United Arab Emirates to address the increasing demand for information and support.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Torre Tagle) also called on mission heads to remain in safe conditions with their families and be prepared to take action if the conflict worsens. To date, 163 Peruvians have been evacuated to safe areas, while active contact is maintained with another 62 stranded in transit and with the approximately 5,600 residents who may wish to leave the region.
