“Dados los problemas actuales y las crecientes amenazas a las vidas, propiedades y familias de los trabajadores de los medios de comunicación, queremos pedir apoyo a la ONU para salvar nuestras vidas y las de nuestras familias”, cita el texto de la carta.
El domingo, la agencia local Pazhvok informó que la Federación Internacional de Periodistas (FIP) recibió más de 2.000 solicitudes de colegas afganos para ayudar en la evacuación de Afganistán después de la toma del poder en el país por el movimiento radical Talibán (prohibido en la Federación de Rusia).
La situación en Afganistán se agravó después de que el presidente de Estados Unidos, Joe Biden, anunciara en abril la decisión de completar la operación en ese país. Después de eso, los militantes talibanes (prohibidos en la Federación de Rusia) aumentaron el ritmo de la ofensiva y el 15 de agosto, sin luchar, establecieron el control total de Kabul.
