“Los pescadores artesanales serán nuestros principales aliados en la lucha contra la desnutrición y la anemia”, destacó el jefe de Estado durante la inauguración de las nuevas instalaciones del referido desembarcadero.

Para julio del 2026, señaló que se beneficiará a más de dos millones de familias en pobreza y pobreza extrema, que adquirirán más de 15 mil toneladas de productos hidrobiológicos a precios promocionales.

Sostuvo que el Perú tiene un índice de consumo per cápita de productos hidrobiológicos de 17.3 kilogramos; sin embargo, 19 regiones están por debajo de este indicador y es necesario llegar con estos productos a todo el país.

Destacó que la pesca artesanal, actividad que contribuye a la seguridad alimentaria y la lucha contra la pobreza y la desigualdad, tiene raíces milenarias, propias de culturas prehispánicas de la costa del país como Caral.

“En el Perú hay alrededor de 80 mil pescadores artesanales, tanto en el litoral marítimo, desde Tumbes hasta Tacna, como en los diferentes ríos y lagos. Asimismo, existen 53 desembarcaderos pesqueros artesanales, cuyas infraestructuras están en malas condiciones”, afirmó.

En esa línea, refirió que la inauguración de este desembarcadero pesquero, construido con una inversión de 28 millones de soles, es un paso muy importante para dinamizar la economía de 2,500 personas, entre pescadores y sus familias, que habitan la localidad de Yacila.

De esta manera, los pescadores artesanales de esta parte del país podrán desarrollar con más eficiencia y productividad la descarga de especies marinas como pota, caballa, calamar, jurel, bonito y cojinova.

“Quiero mencionar que no estamos entregando solo una infraestructura de cemento, estamos entregando un eje de desarrollo económico sostenible para el norte del país”, apuntó.

El mandatario, asimismo, llamó al gobernador regional de Piura y a los alcaldes a seguir trabajando de manera coordinada con el Ejecutivo. De la misma manera, invocó a los congresistas de esta región a trabajar la Agenda Piura, en beneficio de la población de esta parte del país.

Acompañaron al presidente Castillo en esta actividad el ministro de la Producción, Jorge Luis Prado Palomino; el gobernador regional de Piura, Servando García Correa; autoridades locales y representantes de los pescadores artesanales.

Posteriormente, el jefe de Estado, inspeccionó las obras de ampliación del muelle marginal del Terminal Portuario de Paita, en Piura, obra que permitirá la atención de embarcaciones grandes, de hasta 12 mil toneladas de capacidad.

Luego, recorrió las obras de construcción de la Planta de Tratamiento de Aguas Residuales (PTAR) Sullana, que evitará las descargas directas al río Chira de las aguas residuales crudas generadas en la ciudad de Sullana y Bellavista.
