Agencia Peruana de Noticias PRENSAPERU.PE https://prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe En un proceso democrático y transparente, la Sala Plena de la Corte Suprema, integrada por 15 juezas y jueces supremos, eligió en la víspera al magistrado Javier Arévalo Vela como presidente del Poder Judicial para el periodo 2023- 2024.

Vela Arévalo fue presentado ante la prensa y la ciudadanía por la actual titular del Poder Judicial, Elvia Barrios Alvarado, en un acto desarrollado en el Palacio de Justicia, como ganador de las elecciones en la que participaron también los jueces Héctor Lama More y Carlos Arias Lazarte.

“Le digo a todo el país que voy a cumplir con el deber que recae sobre mí, asimismo, que las políticas del Poder judicial son políticas de Estado. Por lo tanto, continuaremos en la línea de lo que se ha venido trabajando y perfeccionaremos algunos temas”, expresó al agradecer el respaldo recibido.

“Creemos que el Poder Judicial está enrumbado sobre algunos ejes importantes como son la lucha contra la corrupción y contra la violencia de género, la digitalización y mejora de la seguridad ciudadana”, agregó.

Arévalo Vela asumirá sus funciones como máxima autoridad del Poder Judicial el primer día hábil del 2023, es decir el 2 de enero próximo.

Su programa de gobierno se sustenta en los ejes: Autonomía e independencia, Transparencia y lucha contra la corrupción, Descarga procesal, Modernización institucional, Fortalecimiento de capacidades, Magistrados y recursos humanos, Acceso a la justicia y Compromiso con la seguridad ciudadana.

El presidente electo es abogado y magíster en Derecho por la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, y ha concluido sus estudios de doctorado en la misma universidad. Es miembro del Consejo Directivo de la Academia de la Magistratura por el período 2021-2022.

Siguió estudios de especialización en Derecho del Trabajo en la Escuela Judicial del Reino de España, y cuenta con un postgrado en Derecho Constitucional y Gobierno y Gestión Judicial por la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (España).

Ha sido miembro de la Comisión que elaboró la Nueva Ley Procesal del Trabajo, norma que ya está implementada en 33 cortes superiores de justicia.

NUEVO JEFE DE OCMA
Cabe indicar, que en la misma sesión fue elegido el juez supremo Ulises Yaya Zumaeta como nuevo jefe de Oficina de Control de la Magistratura (OCMA), en reemplazo de Mariem De La Rosa Bedriñana, hasta que la Junta Nacional de Justicia nombre al jefe de la Autoridad Nacional de Control del Poder Judicial.

LAS 34 CORTES SUPERIORES DE JUSTICIA DEL PAÍS
Al igual que en la Corte Suprema de Justicia, las salas plenas de 34 cortes superiores de justicia del país eligieron también hoy a su presidente/a, entre las que destacan ocho juezas superiores, para el periodo correspondiente de enero 2023-diciembre 2024.

En las cortes de Callao, Cusco, Santa, Lima, Lima Este, Piura, Tacna y Tumbes, fueron elegidas juezas para desempeñar este importante cargo.

De igual modo, fueron elegidos los jefes de las Oficina Desconcentrada de Control de la Magistratura (Odecma), de los referidos distritos judiciales, cuya función es investigar la conducta de los jueces y juezas de su respectiva jurisdicción.

Las autoridades electas asumirán sus funciones el primer día hábil del próximo año, es decir, el 2 de enero del 2023.

Respecto a la Corte Superior Nacional de Justicia Penal Especializada, el Consejo Ejecutivo del Poder Judicial designará próximamente al magistrado que ocupará el cargo para el periodo en mención.

The president-elect is a lawyer and has a master’s degree in Law from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, and has completed his doctoral studies at the same university. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Academy of the Magistracy for the period 2021-2022.

He followed specialization studies in Labor Law at the Judicial School of the Kingdom of Spain, and has a postgraduate degree in Constitutional Law and Government and Judicial Management from the Carlos III University of Madrid (Spain).

He has been a member of the Commission that drafted the New Labor Procedure Law, a norm that is already implemented in 33 superior courts of justice.

NEW BOSS OF OCMA
It should be noted that in the same session Supreme Judge Ulises Yaya Zumaeta was elected as the new head of the Magistracy Control Office (OCMA), replacing Mariem De La Rosa Bedriñana, until the National Justice Board appoints the head of the National Authority for the Control of the Judiciary.
