Este evento se debe principalmente a una configuración atmosférica favorable y una mayor concentración de humedad, especialmente en la costa central.

La Subdirección de Predicción Meteorológica señaló que entre el 12 y 16 de marzo existe la probabilidad de presentar lluvia de moderada a fuerte intensidad en Lima metropolitana y el Callao, siendo el 14 y 15 los día con mayor intensidad. Asimismo se esperan acumulados alrededor de 2mm/día en los distritos cercanos a la costa, y valores superiores en los distritos de Lima este, tales como Chaclacayo y Lurigancho – Chosica.

Por su parte, la Dirección de Hidrología, informa que se espera el incremento del caudal de los principales ríos de la vertiente central del Pacífico como Huaura, Chillón y Rímac, los cuales podrían alcanzar umbrales de peligro de nivel naranja y rojo. Al respecto, se espera la activación de algunas quebradas principalmente en la cuenca del río Rímac, entre el lunes 13 y martes 14 de marzo en horas de la tarde.

El SENAMHI continuará informando sobre las condiciones meteorológicas, para la actualización de los pronósticos y emisión de avisos, en tanto se recomienda a la población y autoridades mantenerse informada a través de su página web y redes sociales.
