Durante la actividad, la jefa de Estado remarcó que estas maquinarias, empleadas para absorber el agua empozada, serán distribuidas de manera inmediata a las regiones del norte.

“Agradezco, en nombre del Gobierno y del pueblo peruano, a Usaid y al Gobierno de los Estados Unidos de América, por este importante gesto, que reafirma, y estrecha aún más, los vínculos de amistad, de hermandad y de cooperación que unen a nuestros países”, afirmó.

La mandataria destacó que Perú y Estados Unidos comparten principios fundamentales, como el respeto y el fortalecimiento de la democracia y el Estado de derecho, la apuesta por el diálogo, por el multilateralismo y el pleno respeto a los derechos humanos.

Participaron de la ceremonia, la ministra de Desarrollo Agrario y Riego, Nelly Paredes; la embajadora de los Estados Unidos de América en Perú, Lisa Kenna; el director de la misión de Usaid en el Perú, Jene Thomas; y la representante residente del Programa Mundial de Alimentos en el Perú, Sarah Laughton.
