Subrayó que carece de antecedentes judiciales, penales y policiales por lo que está legitimado para ocupar cualquier cargo público y reveló que envió un oficio a la Comisión de Ética para presentarse voluntariamente “el día y hora que se señale”.

“Hace tres semanas vengo siendo objeto de una serie de imputaciones a través de los medios de prensa, que son necesarios aclarar y esclarecerlos”, enfatizó para luego agregar que remitió un oficio para que, ni bien se instale la Comisión de Ética, pueda presentarse voluntariamente a fin de responder a los cuestionamientos en su contra.

Soto Reyes indicó que es deber de todos los ciudadanos respetar los documentos oficiales que emiten los poderes del Estado. En tal sentido, aseveró que “el Poder Judicial señala que no tengo antecedentes penales, judiciales, policiales. Por tanto, estoy legitimado para asumir cualquier función pública”, enfatizó.

Respecto de la Ley 31751, que modifica el Código Penal y el Nuevo Código Procesal Penal para modificar el plazo de prescripción, expresó que un sector de la prensa la ha denominado “Ley Soto”, pese a que el autor de la propuesta es el congresista Flavio Cruz Mamani (Perú Libre).

Recordó que en la primera votación del proyecto lo hizo en contra y en la segunda, treinta días después y, por acuerdo de su bancada (Alianza Para el Progreso), votó a favor. Agregó que de ninguna manera se ha visto beneficiado por dicha norma.

En otro momento, Soto Reyes preguntó qué buscan quienes están detrás de los cuestionamientos en su contra. “¿Cuál es el objetivo descalificar a Alejandro Soto o desprestigiar al Congreso de la República?, preguntó.

Dijo también que la Comisión de Ética solo puede investigarlo por su actuación y hechos que ha realizado desde que asumió el cargo de congresista, el 27 de julio del 2021.
