“Estamos comprometidos en adaptarnos ante los efectos del cambio climático y reducir con eficacia nuestras emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero en un 40 % al año 2030. Ese es el compromiso del Perú que renovamos en esta ocasión”, indicó el jefe del Gabinete Ministerial durante la inauguración de la “Semana Climática del Perú 2023. Encuentro con Gobiernos Regionales y taller regional LEDS LAC 2023”.

El titular de la Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros (PCM), acompañado por la ministra del Ambiente, Albina Ruiz Ríos, resaltó el rol que ocupa el Perú en el marco de la acción climática. Ello debido a que el país es uno de los más vulnerables frente al cambio climático y, a la vez, el que cuenta con una gran variedad de oportunidades para crecer de manera competitiva y baja en carbono. 

Frente a ello, el premier Alberto Otárola destacó la importancia del papel que desempeñan los gobiernos regionales para implementar las medidas de adaptación y de mitigación para el logro de la Contribución Determinada a Nivel Nacional.

“Seguiremos trabajando para impulsar el desarrollo de las regiones a través de la modernización de los gobiernos subnacionales y el fomento de las inversiones, lo que requiere priorizar la acción climática en todo el territorio nacional”, añadió.

PROMOCIÓN DE LA MINERÍA RESPONSABLE
El jefe del Gabinete del Ministerial también remarcó que el Perú es un país minero y subrayó la decisión del Ejecutivo de promover la inversión minera, siempre que respete las normas nacionales y genere progreso en las localidades de influencia.

“En el país se van a respetar las normas medioambientales, las normas laborales y sobre todo la necesidad de que participen las localidades beneficiadas por la inversión. Se trata de realizar un esfuerzo común por bajar la conflictividad social y para que la promesa del Perú, de respetar los estándares internacionales, sean hechos y no palabras”, concluyó.

PROMOTION OF RESPONSIBLE MINING
The head of the Ministerial Cabinet also remarked that Peru is a mining country and underlined the Executive’s decision to promote mining investment, as long as it respects national regulations and generates progress in the localities of influence.

“The country will respect environmental standards, labor standards and above all the need for localities benefiting from the investment to participate. It is about making a common effort to reduce social conflict and so that the promise of Peru, to respect international standards, be they actions and not words”, he concluded.
