La iniciativa, que marca un importante logro en la cooperación internacional, se llevó a cabo de manera semipresencial los días 6 y 7 de septiembre, con la participación de especialistas del IFC, a quienes el OSINFOR brindó los conocimientos necesarios para utilizar de manera eficaz la Mochila Forestal y aplicarla para el fortalecimiento del manejo forestal comunitario entre las comunidades indígenas hondureñas.

El entrenamiento se realiza en el marco de la Cooperación Sur-Sur Honduras – Perú, y cuenta con el apoyo técnico y financiero de la Cooperación Alemana a través del proyecto Pana-Pana de GIZ Honduras.

“Existen poblaciones indígenas importantes, tanto en Perú como en Honduras, que se asientan en territorios de bosque. Y siempre son las más vulnerables ante la tala ilegal y ante personas que buscan sacar provecho no equitativo de los recursos maderables y no maderables. El reto es trabajar para que las comunidades puedan hacer un manejo sostenible de sus bosques y, a través de ese manejo, generar ingresos para sus familias”, sostuvo la jefa del OSINFOR, Lucetty Ullilén, tras destacar la importancia del intercambio de experiencias y conocimientos para lograr ese objetivo.

Por su parte, el director ejecutivo del IFC, Luis Solís, manifestó que contar con la ayuda didáctica de la Mochila Forestal “fortalece las capacidades de los técnicos forestales del IFC que coordinan el componente de desarrollo forestal comunitario” en las 12 regiones forestales que son ámbito de acción de dicha institución en Honduras. Asimismo, destacó que quienes se beneficiarán con la metodología son 496 comunidades indígenas de la zona y 143 organizaciones agroforestales.

Durante el taller se abordaron las temáticas de Manejo Forestal Comunitario, Cubicación de la Madera, Negociación y Acuerdos con Terceros, y la de Delitos Forestales y se fortaleció capacidades de 17 especialistas del IFC, quienes replicarán el uso de la Mochila Forestal en las comunidades indígenas para un manejo sostenible de los recursos naturales y la preservación de sus bosques. A través del presente evento, y otros que se realizarán, el Perú y Honduras fortalecen la gestión forestal sostenible en la región.
