Durante su participación en el panel “Leading in the Pacific” junto con altas autoridades de República de Corea, Estados Unidos, Papua Nueva Guinea y Países Bajos, el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores indicó que el Perú concibe APEC como el espacio de mayor dinamismo comercial en el mundo.

Expresó que el foro es la mejor oportunidad, entre las 21 economías que la integran, para cooperar en el incremento de las inversiones y del comercio. “Porque entendemos que no hay posibilidades de desarrollo sin que fluya la inversión, sin que se valore en toda su dimensión la empresa privada, se respeten las condiciones que ofrece cada país”, afirmó.

En ese sentido, destacó que las condiciones del Perú para las inversiones y el comercio son estables, en igualdad de condiciones macroeconómicas para los inversores nacionales y extranjeros.

En el panel el canciller explicó que APEC Perú 2024, cuya agenda prioritaria fue aprobada por las 21 economías en una reunión sostenida en diciembre en Lima, posee tres objetivos: comercio e inversión para un crecimiento inclusivo; la innovación para promover la transición de los actores económicos informales a la economía formal y global; y el crecimiento sostenible para el desarrollo.

Explicó que el segundo objetivo es “es un gran reto porque casi dos de las terceras partes del mundo viven en la informalidad/precariedad” y señaló el impacto que tendrá en los empleos la naciente era disruptiva en la que concurren tres factores: inteligencia artificial, las nuevas formas de comunicación y la bioingenería

“Esperamos que APEC 2024 salga un poco de la caja para promover cooperación no solamente en el Asia-Pacífico, sino que sea oportunidad para decirle al mundo: priorizamos el comercio y las inversiones, pero queremos ser parte de las soluciones globales”, enfatizó el canciller.

Durante el panel el ministro González-Olaechea compartió sus reflexiones sobre las consecuencias de la naciente disruptiva que generará la destrucción de empleos y la creación de nuevos bolsones sociales que amenazan la gobernanza de los países. “Tenemos un gran reto no solamente para aumentar el crecimiento y la inversión sino también para pensar qué es lo que, de forma disruptiva, es parte de esta nueva era, una era naciente”, acotó.

Finalmente, consultado sobre el liderazgo en el 2025, el canciller Javier González-Olaechea, afirmó que el Perú posee una tradición histórica en favor de la paz. “Consideramos que los liderazgos hegemónicos, individuales, deben dar paso a un liderazgo compartido en valores”, puntualizó.

Participaron del panel el primer ministro de Corea, Han Duck-soo; el presidente del Consejo de Asuntos Exteriores de EE.UU., Michael Froman; el primer ministro y ministro de Asuntos Exteriores de Papua Nueva Guinea, James Marape; y la ministra de Defensa de Países Bajos, Kajsa Ollongren. El moderador fue el editor del diario Strait Times de Singapur, Jaime Ho.

During his participation in the “Leading in the Pacific” panel together with senior authorities from the Republic of Korea, the United States, Papua New Guinea and the Netherlands, the Minister of Foreign Affairs indicated that Peru conceives APEC as the space with the greatest commercial dynamism in the world.

He expressed that the forum is the best opportunity, among the 21 economies that comprise it, to cooperate in increasing investments and trade. “Because we understand that there are no possibilities for development without investment flowing, without private enterprise being valued in all its dimensions, and the conditions offered by each country being respected,” he stated.

In that sense, he highlighted that Peru’s conditions for investments and trade are stable, with equal macroeconomic conditions for national and foreign investors.

In the panel, the chancellor explained that APEC Peru 2024, whose priority agenda was approved by the 21 economies in a meeting held in December in Lima, has three objectives: trade and investment for inclusive growth; innovation to promote the transition of informal economic actors to the formal and global economy; and sustainable growth for development.

He explained that the second objective is “it is a great challenge because almost two of the thirds of the world live in informality/precariousness” and pointed out the impact that the nascent disruptive era will have on jobs in which three factors come together: artificial intelligence, new forms of communication and bioengineering

“We hope that APEC 2024 goes a little out of the box to promote cooperation not only in the Asia-Pacific, but that it is an opportunity to tell the world: we prioritize trade and investments, but we want to be part of global solutions,” emphasized the chancellor.

During the panel, Minister González-Olaechea shared his reflections on the consequences of the emerging disruption that will generate the destruction of jobs and the creation of new social pockets that threaten the governance of the countries. “We have a great challenge not only to increase growth and investment but also to think about what, in a disruptive way, is part of this new era, a nascent era,” he said.

Finally, when asked about leadership in 2025, Foreign Minister Javier González-Olaechea stated that Peru has a historical tradition in favor of peace. “We consider that hegemonic, individual leaderships must give way to shared leadership in values,” he pointed out.

The Prime Minister of Korea, Han Duck-soo, participated in the panel; the president of the US Foreign Affairs Council, Michael Froman; the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Papua New Guinea, James Marape; and the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren. The moderator was the editor of the Strait Times newspaper of Singapore, Jaime Ho.
