Como parte del proyecto, se donaron cuatro equipos médicos considerados como prioritarios por el INMP, tales como fetoscopio, fotocoagulador, monitor de funciones vitales y cabina de flujo laminar. Durante el primer año se pretende beneficiar directamente a 28,000 personas, principalmente madres de familia. Algunos de los servicios que se proveerán gracias al proyecto incluyen 1.700 ecografías, 1.800 consultas por infertilidad, 7.000 cesáreas, atención a 4.000 recién nacidos y alrededor de 13.500 consultas generales.

El programa de entrega de inició con palabras de bienvenida del Director de Cooperación Científica e Internacional, Dr. Giancarlo Varela García. Luego participaron Carmen Gloria Zeballos en representación del Elder Jorge F. Zeballos, Presidente del Área Sudamérica Noroeste de La Iglesia de Jesucristo y el Director General del INMP, Dr. Félix Ayala Peralta. Después firmaron el acta de entrega formal de la donación e iniciaron un recorrido por las áreas beneficiadas del centro de salud.

Esta alianza surge ante la necesidad de mejorar la atención materna y perinatal. A pesar de que el Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal fue considerado en el año 2006 como el mejor equipado del Perú y uno de los mejores de Sudamérica, a la fecha se ha vencido el plazo de uso de varios de sus equipos. Actualmente atiende aproximadamente a 50,000 personas al año, entre madres y niños.

Este es el principal hospital de la capital peruana para atención materna y perinatal, una ciudad con 12 millones de habitantes, por lo que el proyecto tendrá gran impacto en la población de Lima. El personal del hospital recibirá capacitación en cuanto al uso de estos equipos, con lo que se espera que el número de pacientes asistidos aumente en estas áreas en al menos 50%.

La Iglesia de Jesucristo tiene proyectos humanitarios en 190 países y territorios. Estas donaciones obedecen a su doctrina centrada en las enseñanzas de Jesucristo y servicio al prójimo.
