Hoy, me siento muy honrado de reconocer el 9 de febrero de 2025 como el primer Día del Golfo de América.

El 20 de enero de 2025, firmé la Orden Ejecutiva 14172 (“Restauración de nombres que honran la grandeza estadounidense”). Entre otras acciones, esa Orden Ejecutiva requería que el Secretario del Interior, actuando de conformidad con el Título 43 del Código de los Estados Unidos, artículos 364 a 364f, “tomara todas las medidas apropiadas para cambiar el nombre de ‘Golfo de América’ a la zona de la Plataforma Continental de los Estados Unidos limitada al noreste, norte y noroeste por el estado de Texas, Luisiana, Misisipi, Alabama y Florida y que se extiende hasta el límite marítimo con México y Cuba en la zona anteriormente denominada Golfo de México”.

Tomé esta medida en parte porque, como se indica en esa Orden, “[e]l área anteriormente conocida como el Golfo de México ha sido durante mucho tiempo un activo integral para nuestra otrora floreciente Nación y ha seguido siendo una parte indeleble de los Estados Unidos”.

Hoy, estoy haciendo mi primera visita al Golfo de América desde su cambio de nombre. A medida que mi Administración restaura el orgullo estadounidense por la historia de la grandeza estadounidense, es apropiado y adecuado que nuestra gran Nación se reúna y conmemore esta ocasión trascendental y el cambio de nombre del Golfo de América.

AHORA, POR TANTO, YO, DONALD J. TRUMP, Presidente de los Estados Unidos de América, en virtud de la autoridad que me confieren la Constitución y las leyes de los Estados Unidos, proclamo por la presente el 9 de febrero de 2025 como el Día del Golfo de América. Today, I am very honored to recognize February 9, 2025 as America’s first Gulf Day.

On January 20, 2025, I signed Executive Order 14172 (“Restringe Names That Honor American Greatness”). Among other actions, that Executive Order required the Secretary of the Interior, acting pursuant to Title 43 of the United States Code, sections 364 to 364f, “to take all appropriate measures to change the name ‘Gulf of America’ to the area of ​​the Continental Shelf of the United States limited to the northeast, north and northwest by the states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida and extending to the maritime boundary with Mexico and Cuba in the area formerly called the Gulf of Mexico.”

I took this action in part because, as stated in that Order, “[t]he area formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico has long been an integral asset to our once flourishing Nation and has remained an indelible part of the United States.”

Today, I am making my first visit to the Gulf of America since its name change. As my Administration restores American pride in the history of American greatness, it is fitting and fitting that our great Nation come together and commemorate this momentous occasion and the renaming of the Gulf of America.

TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim February 9, 2025, as American Gulf Day. I call upon public officials and all the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.
