Equipos técnicos de la Secretaría de la Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres (SGRD), de la Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros (PCM), y la Autoridad Nacional del Agua (ANA), entidad adscrita al Ministerio de Desarrollo Agrario y Riego (Midagri), se movilizaron a este sector a fin de supervisar las acciones que se realizan con maquinaria pesada.

“Se ha optado por hacer este trabajo en la zona del río cercana a la planta de La Atarjea para evitar lo que sucedió en el 2017 cuando, durante muchos días, Lima se quedó sin agua a raíz de obstrucciones con material sólido en la bocatoma de la planta. Con este trabajo, que se hace con cuatro buldóceres, una excavadora y un volquete, se garantizar el servicio de agua potable para más de 11 millones de personas que residen en Lima”, señaló el secretario de la SGRD, Percy Mercado.

El funcionario de la PCM destacó que se han identificado más de 40 puntos críticos en el margen del río Rímac. Desde diciembre del 2024 a la fecha, se han retirado más de 222 000 metros cúbicos de piedras y escombros en 12 kilómetros del cauce del río, lo que equivale a un avance de más del 55 % de las labores de prevención.

El jefe de la ANA, José Musayón, precisó que la zona aledaña a La Atarjea es un lugar crítico adicional que se identificó durante las primeras labores y que, en esa área, se están ubicando nuevos puntos a fin de ser intervenidos de manera inmediata.

Preparación y respuesta a nivel nacional
El secretario de la SGRD, Percy Mercado, informó además que el Ejecutivo fortalecerá las acciones de limpieza y descolmatación en las quebradas de Chosica, Santa Eulalia y otras zonas de Lima Este.

Destacó que, con intervenciones de otros ministerios, también se realizan labores de limpieza en el río Chillón y que, a nivel nacional, el Gobierno desplegará acciones de supervisión y monitoreo de riesgos en zonas vulnerables de Piura y Trujillo.

He highlighted that, with interventions from other ministries, cleaning work is also being carried out in the Chillón River and that, at the national level, the Government will deploy risk supervision and monitoring actions in vulnerable areas of Piura and Trujillo.
