“Prometimos transformar los destinos de la patria, y estamos cumpliendo con trabajo, destrabando obras que han estado por muchos años olvidadas, como este importante proyecto de irrigación que representa un sueño para nuestros hermanos tumbesinos desde 1960 y hoy es una realidad”, manifestó desde Palacio de Gobierno.

El destrabe se logra tras la firma del convenio institucional suscrito entre el Ministerio de Desarrollo Agrario y Riego (Midagri) y el Gobierno Regional de Tumbes, por el cual se oficializa que el proyecto pase a ser administrado por el Ejecutivo.

“Hoy estamos dando inicio a un nuevo y mejor capítulo en la historia del país y de Tumbes. Con la transferencia, el Midagri asume la competencia de la unidad formuladora, la unidad ejecutora de inversiones y, lo más importante, la puesta en marcha del proyecto”, señaló la mandataria.

El proyecto de irrigación de la margen derecha del río Tumbes contempla la construcción de dos embalses y una presa derivadora, junto con diversas obras complementarias. Estas infraestructuras permitirán optimizar el uso del agua y beneficiar a 300 000 habitantes de las provincias de Tumbes, Zarumilla y Contralmirante Villar, quienes dependen de la agricultura para su sustento.

La implementación del proyecto mejorará el riego de 4000 hectáreas y ampliará la frontera agrícola en 21 000 hectáreas nuevas, favoreciendo cultivos como arroz, limón, plátano y cacao.

“Es probable que, cuando esta obra entre en operación, ya no estemos en el gobierno, pero eso no es lo importante. Lo que realmente importa es que la impulsamos con una visión de país. Acá no hay cálculos políticos, hay compromiso, amor por la patria y el firme propósito de dejar un país en marcha y en desarrollo”, enfatizó la jefa de Estado.

Seguidamente, la presidenta Boluarte afirmó que uno de los objetivos del Gobierno es impulsar el sector agrícola y, por ello, el Ejecutivo destinó para este año un presupuesto de apertura de más de 3360 millones de soles, el más alto del sector en los últimos años.

“El incremento de los recursos permitirá fortalecer el apoyo a productores, impulsar inversiones, mejorar la producción de alimentos, así como elevar el acceso a créditos y la ejecución de proyectos de riego. Así, el 45% del presupuesto asignado al sector, corresponde al rubro de inversiones y permitirá financiar más de 190 proyectos a nivel nacional”, apuntó.

Gobernador regional destaca respaldo del gobierno
Minutos antes, el gobernador regional de Tumbes, Segismundo Cruces Ordinola, se dirigió a la mandataria y destacó la voluntad política de la jefa de Estado para impulsar esta obra clave para la región. Resaltó el respaldo brindado a las autoridades subnacionales para mejorar los niveles de ejecución pública.

“En Tumbes, antes solo se ejecutaba el 40 % del presupuesto asignado, pero hoy, gracias al acompañamiento del Gobierno, lo hemos elevado al 96.7 %. Estamos haciendo una buena gestión, al igual que el Gobierno central, pero aun así nos critican, porque así es la política actual, Ya no es como en los años 70 u 80, cuando era más constructiva. Hoy me critican a mí, la critican a usted, pese a que estamos avanzando”, expresó.

The irrigation project for the right bank of the Tumbes River includes the construction of two reservoirs and a diversion dam, along with various complementary works. These infrastructures will optimize the use of water and benefit 300,000 inhabitants of the provinces of Tumbes, Zarumilla and Contralmirante Villar, who depend on agriculture for their livelihood.

The implementation of the project will improve the irrigation of 4,000 hectares and expand the agricultural frontier by 21,000 new hectares, favoring crops such as rice, lemon, banana and cocoa.

“It is likely that, when this work comes into operation, we will no longer be in the government, but that is not the important thing. What really matters is that we promote it with a vision of the country. Here there are no political calculations, there is commitment, love for the country and the firm intention of leaving a country moving and developing,” emphasized the head of state.

Next, President Boluarte stated that one of the Government’s objectives is to promote the agricultural sector and, therefore, the Executive allocated an opening budget of more than 3.36 billion soles for this year, the highest in the sector in recent years.

“The increase in resources will strengthen support for producers, promote investments, improve food production, as well as increase access to credit and the execution of irrigation projects. Thus, 45% of the budget assigned to the sector corresponds to the investment category and will allow financing more than 190 projects nationwide,” he noted.

Regional governor highlights government support
Minutes before, the regional governor of Tumbes, Segismundo Cruces Ordinola, addressed the president and highlighted the political will of the head of state to promote this key work for the region. He highlighted the support provided to subnational authorities to improve levels of public execution.

“In Tumbes, before only 40% of the allocated budget was executed, but today, thanks to the support of the Government, we have raised it to 96.7%. We are managing well, as is the central government, but they still criticize us, because that is current politics.
