“Desde el Ejecutivo, creemos en la libertad de prensa. A lo largo de mi carrera, nunca he ejercido mi derecho de rectificación ni he querellado a un periodista”, afirmó el jefe del Gabinete Ministerial.

Por parte de la SIP, en el encuentro participaron su vicepresidente segundo y titular de su Comisión de Libertad de Prensa e Información, Carlos Jornet; y el director ejecutivo Carlos Lauría.

El titular de la Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros (PCM) subrayó que el Gobierno nacional mantiene un diálogo abierto con los medios de comunicación y que periódicamente se brinda información sin restricciones a los periodistas.

“Cada semana, al finalizar el Consejo de Ministros, tenemos una reunión con la prensa y, además de la exposición de los acuerdos aprobados, los reporteros pueden preguntar libremente sobre cualquier tema. Jamás hemos impedido el ingreso de periodista alguno ni hemos puesto limitaciones a sus consultas”, apuntó el premier.

En tanto, Carlos Jornet, vicepresidente segundo de la SIP, saludó el gesto del Ejecutivo de reunirse con su delegación y brindó recomendaciones para mejorar la relación del Ejecutivo con la prensa.

“Si hay un clima de tensión, seguramente hay responsabilidades compartidas, pero está la responsabilidad institucional del Poder Ejecutivo de dar el primer ejemplo y la primera señal para apaciguar los ánimos”, manifestó Jornet.

Finalmente, el premier Adrianzén ratificó el compromiso del Gobierno con la protección de la libertad de prensa y, en esa línea, afirmó que el Gobierno nacional brindará garantías para su labor, especialmente en regiones y zonas afectadas por el crimen organizado.

The head of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) emphasized that the national government maintains an open dialogue with the media and regularly provides journalists with unrestricted information.

“Every week, at the end of the Council of Ministers meeting, we have a meeting with the press, and in addition to presenting the approved agreements, reporters can freely ask questions on any topic. We have never prevented any journalist from entering the chamber or imposed restrictions on their questions,” the Prime Minister noted.

Meanwhile, Carlos Jornet, Second Vice President of the IAPA, welcomed the Executive Branch’s gesture of meeting with his delegation and offered recommendations to improve the Executive Branch’s relationship with the press.

“If there is a climate of tension, there are certainly shared responsibilities, but the Executive Branch has the institutional responsibility to set the first example and the first signal to calm things down,” Jornet stated.

Finally, Prime Minister Adrianzén reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to protecting press freedom and, along those lines, affirmed that the national government will provide guarantees for its work, especially in regions and areas affected by organized crime.
