Este acuerdo, negociado exitosamente entre el Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas del Perú y el Servicio Real de Rentas y Aduanas del Reino Unido, brindará mayor certidumbre a los inversionistas y fomentará el comercio bilateral con reglas claras y equitativas ya que evitará que una misma persona o empresa pague impuestos dos veces, por los mismos ingresos. Este tipo de convenio es el noveno firmado por el Perú, el anterior fue con Japón en 2019.

“El Reino Unido se ha convertido en el principal inversionista en nuestro país y esta medida contribuirá a dinamizar aún más nuestras relaciones económicas”, afirmó el canciller Schialer. Añadió que, a pesar de los desafíos globales, las naciones pueden seguir alcanzando importantes acuerdos. “Atraer inversiones y fortalecer nuestras relaciones comerciales sigue siendo una prioridad para el Perú, especialmente en un contexto internacional marcado por medidas proteccionistas”.

SÓLIDA RELACIÓN BILATERAL
Durante el encuentro, ambos cancilleres resaltaron la solidez de la relación diplomática que se ha mantenido por más de 200 años. Anunciaron la próxima celebración del VI Mecanismo de Consultas Políticas a nivel viceministerial en la capital británica.

Uno de los temas que se abordaron durante esta conversación fue el de la seguridad y la cooperación en la lucha contra la delincuencia organizada transnacional. Acordaron establecer prontamente un mecanismo para llevar adelante esta lucha conjunta.

Asimismo, Schialer expresó el interés del Perú en atraer nuevas inversiones británicas en sectores estratégicos como infraestructura, minería y energía. Destacó que la adhesión del Reino Unido al Acuerdo Integral y Progresista de Asociación Transpacífico (CPTPP) impulsará significativamente el comercio, beneficiando a más del 94 % de los productos de exportación peruanos.

This agreement, successfully negotiated between the Peruvian Ministry of Economy and Finance and the United Kingdom’s Royal Revenue and Customs Service, will provide greater certainty to investors and promote bilateral trade with clear and fair rules, preventing the same person or company from paying taxes twice on the same income. This type of agreement is the ninth signed by Peru, the previous one being with Japan in 2019.

“The United Kingdom has become the main investor in our country, and this measure will contribute to further invigorating our economic relations,” stated Foreign Minister Schialer. He added that, despite global challenges, the nations can continue to reach important agreements. “Attracting investment and strengthening our trade relations remains a priority for Peru, especially in an international context marked by protectionist measures.”

STRONG BILATERAL RELATIONSHIP
During the meeting, both foreign ministers highlighted the strength of the diplomatic relationship that has existed for more than 200 years. They announced the upcoming holding of the VI Political Consultation Mechanism at the vice-ministerial level in the British capital.

One of the topics discussed during this conversation was security and cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime. They agreed to promptly establish a mechanism to carry out this joint fight.

Schialer also expressed Peru’s interest in attracting new British investment in strategic sectors such as infrastructure, mining, and energy. He emphasized that the United Kingdom’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) will significantly boost trade, benefiting more than 94% of Peruvian exports.
