En la ceremonia desarrollada en la sede institucional, el ministro de Justicia y Derechos Humanos, Eduardo Arana Ysa, indicó que con esta asignación al servicio de Defensa Pública se beneficiará a las personas en estado de vulnerabilidad.

“Es un paso para seguir contribuyendo al desarrollo del Perú y, sobre todo, atender las necesidades de quienes más nos llaman y nos reclaman, los más vulnerables. El Estado debe estar presente. Nosotros tenemos campañas permanentes y la Defensa Pública también está ahí”, expresó el titular del MINJUSDH.

El ministro Arana resaltó que la Defensa Pública cuenta con más de 2200 abogados y brindó el año pasado más de 1,2 millones de atenciones a personas en situación de vulnerabilidad. Resaltó que, con la Caravana de la Justicia en la que participan también otras áreas del MINJUSDH, “estamos yendo pueblo por pueblo”.

Es importante indicar que la asignación vehicular permitirá ampliar la cobertura del servicio de defensa pública en territorios con alto grado de dispersión geográfica y limitado acceso a transporte público. De esta forma se podrá llegar de forma más rápida y segura a zonas rurales, comunidades altoandinas y asentamientos urbanos periféricos, donde la población suele enfrentar barreras reales para acceder al sistema de justicia.

El trabajo articulado entre PRONABI y la Dirección General de la Defensa Pública, ambos del MINJUSDH, constituye un modelo de gestión eficiente del patrimonio del Estado, al reutilizar vehículos incautados al crimen para fines sociales, legales y de protección ciudadana.
