Peruvian News Agency PRENSAPERU.PE https://prensaperu.pe Twitter: @prensaperupe Industrial exports totaled US $ 3 thousand 201 million between January and July of this year, reflecting an increase of 58% compared to the same period of 2020 (US $ 2,026 million), and slightly exceeding what was registered in 2019 (US $ 3,006 million), before the pandemic, reported the Manufacturing Management of the Association of Exporters (ADEX).

The central manager of Exports of the union, Ysabel Segura, highlighted the recovery of the sector by accumulating 8 consecutive months of growth -since December 2020-, which generates good expectations for the end of the year.

However, he clarified that the 2021 rate responds to the low base of comparison of the first months of 2020, when the health crisis began and it hit manufacturing due to the stoppage of activities. “If we compare the figure for this year with that of 2019 (January-July), an increase of 6.5% is observed and if we do it with previous years, higher amounts are seen in 2012, US $ 3,516,979,000 and 2013 US $ 3,236 million, ”he said.

An important factor in the recovery of this activity was the demand from the United States, its main destination with US $ 852 million 555 thousand, experiencing an increase of 75.4% and concentrating 26.6% of the total.
