Participaron alcaldes de la región, profesionales del Organismo Técnico de la Administración de los Servicios de Saneamiento (Otass) y el gerente general de la Unidad Ejecutora 002 Agua Tumbes, Miguel Granda.

En la reunión, los burgomaestres expresaron las necesidades de sus localidades en servicios básicos. Se puso énfasis en evaluar e impulsar alternativas para aumentar la cobertura y la continuidad del servicio de agua potable, e incrementar el número de conexiones del sistema de alcantarillado.

También se analizaron y coordinaron acciones para mitigar daños producidos por las intensas precipitaciones pluviales en los sistemas de agua potable y alcantarillado. Además, los funcionarios del subsector Saneamiento indicaron su predisposición de disponer la asesoría técnica necesaria a los gobiernos locales con el fin de priorizar la inversión en beneficio de la población.

Participaron los alcaldes provinciales de Tumbes y Contralmirante Villar, Hildebrando Antón y Jaime Yacila, respectivamente; también los burgomaestres distritales de Canoas de Punta Sal, Javier Pazo, y Pampas de Hospital, Freddy Rosales; y representantes de los municipios distritales de Papayal y Matapalo.

En el marco de la emergencia actual, el viceministro Ortega indicó que se incrementará el número de camiones cisterna asignado a la región. Actualmente, 15 de esas unidades distribuyen agua potable en zonas cuyo servicio se ha visto afectado por las lluvias, y en áreas que carecen de conexión domiciliaria. El ministerio, a través del Otass, también destinará más camiones hidrojets para Tumbes.

POSIBILIDAD PARA LOS CEDROS
Durante su visita de trabajo a la región, en la zona de captación La Peña, el viceministro anunció que se encuentra en etapa de consulta el proceso de licitación pública correspondiente al proyecto de captación directa del río de Tumbes para la Planta de Tratamiento de Agua Potable (PTAP) Los Cedros.

En La Peña, los equipos técnicos del viceministerio, el Otass y Agua Tumbes verificaron que el canal que lleva agua cruda a la PTAP Los Cedros aún presenta problemas de colmatación a causa de la crecida del río Tumbes. Esto afecta la producción de agua potable que se destina a la zona sur de la región.

Los funcionarios también visitaron la zona de Zorritos donde el gobierno local y otros municipios del ámbito sur de la región apuntan a contar con una PTAP para no depender de la planta Los Cedros. En el lugar, el viceministro Ortega planteó implementar plantas de tratamiento de agua potable portátiles con energía de paneles solares, iniciativa que fue bien recibida por los interesados. CHANCE FOR THE CEDARS
During his working visit to the region, in the La Peña catchment area, the vice minister announced that the public bidding process corresponding to the direct catchment project from the Tumbes river for the Drinking Water Treatment Plant is in the consultation stage. (PTAP) The Cedars.

In La Peña, the technical teams from the vice-ministry, Otass and Agua Tumbes verified that the canal that carries raw water to the Los Cedros PTAP still presents clogging problems due to the swelling of the Tumbes River. This affects the production of drinking water destined for the southern part of the region.

The officials also visited the Zorritos area where the local government and other municipalities in the southern part of the region aim to have a PTAP so as not to depend on the Los Cedros plant. At the site, Vice Minister Ortega proposed implementing portable drinking water treatment plants powered by solar panels, an initiative that was well received by those interested.
